Tesla’s first CCS-compatible Magic Docks exposed

Tesla’s first Combined Charging System (CCS)-compatible charging pads are set to open soon, which could be called Magic Docks when they launch, with the Hawthorne station near Tesla’s design studio in California expected to be the first charging outlet to be retrofitted. This means that non-Tesla owners will also be able to visit these locations for charging.

Tesla announced last November that it was opening up the Tesla EV charging connector design to the world and invited charging network operators and vehicle manufacturers to adopt the Tesla charging connector and charging interface, which we call the North American Charging Standard (NACS), on their charging equipment and vehicles.

NACS is the most common charging standard in North America: twice as many vehicles use the NACS charging standard as the CCS standard, and 60% more piles in the Tesla Supercharger network use the NACS charging standard than all CCS piles combined.
