Mexico’s Nuevo Leon state government announced on Tuesday that electric car manufacturer Tesla has obtained a land use permit issued by the country’s federal Ministry of Environment to build a new project west of Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo Leon state. Build a “super factory” in the region.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Nuevo Leon State Economic Development Council said it had approved the provision of 2.627 billion pesos (currently about 335 million RMB) in incentives (including payroll tax exemptions and other policies) to Tesla, which is equivalent to 3.37% of Tesla’s investment amount.
The Nuevo León state government said these incentives are aimed at building basic infrastructure such as water treatment facilities and roads for the areas surrounding the factory, and also include policies such as reducing Tesla’s payroll tax.
The Nuevo León state government estimates that the land area designated for the factory is approximately 261 hectares; the construction cost of the factory will exceed US$5 billion (Note: currently approximately 35.65 billion RMB) and is expected to provide manufacturing and technology The field will create 4,500 jobs. .
The state’s governor, Samuel Garcia, said in October that the “gigafactory” is expected to bring in about $15 billion (currently about 106.95 billion RMB) in revenue from Tesla and its suppliers over the next two years.
