Tesla punches Cybertruck electric pickup leaker, expels it from scene without discussion

According to an internal email posted by X (Twitter) user @Teslaphx, Tesla has begun to crack down on employees who leaked Cybertruck pictures and videos.

The email warned employees and contractors that they would be “immediately removed from the scene” if they were caught filming the Cybertruck or its parts or production line at Gigafactory Texas. Tesla banned them from filming anything related to the Cybertruck unless they were officially authorized in advance. The email also reads, “The Cybertruck team will issue photo passes/stickers to appropriate personnel in the future to help expedite business-related photography/camera interactions with security personnel.” It should be noted that the authenticity of this email has not been verified.

Many companies have non-disclosure agreements with their employees to protect their proprietary information from leaking to public platforms. Some companies even have policies that limit cell phone use, and at least one National Labor Relations Board ruling has upheld employers’ use of cell phones on certain departmental premises and to prevent the disclosure of confidential information.

Over the past few months, there have been many leaked and candid images of the interior of the Tesla factory, allowing enthusiasts to track the progress of the Cybertruck. However, with Tesla now tightly guarding the model, fewer revelations may emerge online. A recent drone photo shows a Model Y safety vehicle guarding two Cybertrucks charging, possibly to prevent paparazzi from filming the truck, but it’s hard to stop a drone from approaching.

Small-scale production of the Cybertruck is expected to begin later this year, followed by mass production in early 2024. According to CEO Elon Musk, the first deliveries of the car could take place by the end of the third quarter of 2023. The car reportedly has 1.9 million reservations.
