Tesla is preparing to launch an improved version of its best-selling model Y at its Shanghai factory, according to Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter revealed, as Chinese competitors accelerate product launches amid fierce competition.
Tesla is currently preparing its new Model Y in China and could begin mass production as early as mid-2024, people familiar with the matter said. The 2024 Model Y will feature more exterior and interior changes than the latest version from October.
It is noticed that Tesla launched a facelift of the Model Y in October this year, adding multi-color ambient lights, a new dashboard trim using technical textile materials, and 19-inch Gemini wheels. In addition, the rear-wheel drive version of the new Model Y accelerates from 100 kilometers to 100 kilometers in 5.9 seconds, which is 1 second shorter than the old model.
Currently, Model Y has three configurations, namely the rear-wheel drive version, the long-range version and the high-performance version, with prices starting at 266,400 RMB, 306,400 RMB and 363,900 RMB respectively.
