The International Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) issued a statement in June this year that it will standardize the design of Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) interface, so as to ensure that any supplier and manufacturer can charge in North America. Use, manufacture or deploy NACS charging interfaces on electric vehicles and charging piles.
Tesla has recently issued the first charging connector production license to Volex, a large British power equipment manufacturer, for the production of NACS charging interfaces.
Volex then issued a press release, and the part is as follows:
Volex plc, a specialist integrated manufacturer of critical power and data transmission products, is pleased to be an authorized partner of Tesla's NACS EV charging system.
Volex is a global manufacturer of select genuine NACS couplers and is ready for immediate supply to automotive OEMs and charging infrastructure suppliers.
