Spanish media Cinco Dias reported that Tesla is in consultation with the Spanish province of Valencia to consider building an electric car factory there.

The report said that a Valencia government spokesman said that the city’s authorities had held a meeting with an anonymous company to discuss the issue of large-scale investment in the automotive industry, but the spokesman declined to provide more details, explaining that the consultation process involved commercial secrets and was therefore kept confidential. Insiders pointed out that the anonymous company is the electric car manufacturer Tesla.

According to the report, Tesla has not responded to Reuters’ request for comment as of press time, and the Spanish government has declined to comment. The report cites sources familiar with the matter as saying that the total investment in the project is expected to reach 4.5 billion euros (currently about RMB 34.335 billion).
