Tesla announced that it now has 40,000 Supercharger stations operating around the world, making it the largest DC fast charging network in the world.

The Supercharger network has been a key part of Tesla’s success. When Tesla first got into the electric vehicle business, it quickly realized that if it wanted to succeed, it could not rely on third-party companies to develop the charging infrastructure to support its electric vehicles.

So Tesla invested in its own DC fast-charging network, known as the Supercharger network, to take control of its customers’ charging experience on its own, without having to rely on other companies. Now, 10 years later, the Tesla Supercharger network is the largest and arguably one of the best DC fast charging networks in the world.

Today Tesla announced that it now has 40,000 Superchargers around the world, with those 40,000 Superchargers located in more than 4,000 different locations around the planet. The network is also growing at an accelerated rate, with Tesla adding more than 10,000 Supercharger stations this year.

On top of deploying many new stations, Tesla also plans to make some important changes to its charging network. Tesla is gradually starting to open up its Supercharger network to non-Tesla electric cars, which is making it the largest electric vehicle charging provider. Tesla has now opened up hundreds of charging stations across Europe and is preparing to do the same in North America.

Tesla also recently opened its charging gun design, which the company hopes will become the new charging standard in North America. In addition, Tesla is developing a fourth generation of Superchargers. It is expected to have higher peak charging power and to facilitate the use of non-Tesla electric vehicles.
