Tesla California Virtual Power Plant covers 244 homes in San Diego

The number of participants in Tesla’s California Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program is gradually increasing. Data shared by X user Kromek6 shows that the VPP program has covered 244 households in San Diego. The user then thanked Tesla and San Diego Gas & Electric accepted his application.

It is noted that users who own Tesla Powerwall and solar panels in California can apply to join the VPP through the Tesla App. Users can store the power generated by the solar panels or store power during off-peak hours for home use. Or charge your electric car.

LastBulb data shows there were about 7,727 VPP participants across California as of late July, the majority of whom were residents living in the northern part of the state through Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E).

At the time, Tesla’s VPP program had 5,681 people signed up through PG&E and another 2,046 through SoCal Edison. San Diego only announced plans to launch Tesla’s VPP program in August, so 244 participants have joined since then.
