According to foreign media reports, Tesla 2019 and 2020 to determine the construction of the Berlin super factory and Texas super factory, after nearly two years of construction, have been put into production last year, respectively on March 22 and April 7 held a grand opening ceremony, the production of the Model Y also began to users immediately after delivery.
Like Tesla’s other two plants that are already in production, the Berlin and Texas mega-factories have been ramping up since they started production, both exceeding 3,000 units per week.
Tesla disclosed in its Q4 earnings report last week that the Model Y production line at both mega-factories exceeded 3,000 units per week, stating that the Model Y production line at both plants produced more than 3,000 units in one week at the end of the quarter.
With weekly production exceeding 3,000 units, it means that the overall capacity of the Berlin and Texas mega-factories has increased, and they also disclosed in the earnings report that the annual capacity of Model Y at both mega-factories has exceeded 250,000 units.
As Tesla’s newest plants, the increase in Model Y production at the Berlin and Texas mega-factories will also enhance their ability to meet consumer demand in Europe and North America and increase overall production.
Tesla currently has four passenger car plants under its umbrella, and with the Fremont, California and Shanghai mega-factories still ramping up capacity, along with the continued ramp-up of production at the Berlin and Texas mega-factories, they will continue to increase production and deliveries this year, and they still plan to ramp up production as quickly as possible in line with the 50 percent compound annual growth rate expected at the beginning of 2021.
