Tesla announces that vehicles ordered after July 21 will no longer receive free lifetime standard in-car entertainment service

Tesla new cars will no longer enjoy free lifetime standard in-car entertainment services, after 8 years need to pay a subscription, the specific price is not announced. Tesla’s announcement shows that new Tesla vehicles with an order date after July 21, 2022 (inclusive) will have free access to the standard in-car entertainment package for eight years from the date of first delivery without additional payment (if you purchase a non-brand new vehicle such as a show car or internal vehicle, it will be counted from the date the vehicle is first put into service).

If you are purchasing a used vehicle, the remaining period of free use will be communicated before the vehicle is delivered.

Tesla custom vehicles or current vehicles with an order date before July 21, 2022 (not included) will not be affected by the policy and will continue to enjoy the free lifetime standard in-car entertainment service package, and the features that have been opened at the time of picking up the vehicle can continue to be used for free (hardware replacement or upgrade required for related features or services are not included, such as network module upgrade).

It is understood that vehicles equipped with the Standard In-car Entertainment Service Package can use the same basic mapping and navigation features as the Premium In-car Entertainment Service Package, including real-time road condition-based route design, trip planning and Supercharger availability information display, etc.

Some in-vehicle features that require network connectivity and third-party licensing may be changed or removed after the standard In-Vehicle Entertainment package expires free of charge. Specific features currently affected include maps, navigation and voice commands.

For reference, the subscription fee for the Premium In-Car Entertainment package is currently charged on a monthly basis, specifically $9.99/month.
