Tesla announced today that it will hold AI DAY 2022 in Palo Alto, California, on September 30, North American time.
Tesla AI DAY is said to be designed to include outstanding artificial intelligence, software and chip talent from around the world, with the show discussing battery technology, artificial intelligence in self-driving cars and other innovative technologies.
This year’s AI Day will feature a prototype of Optimus Prime, a robot that Tesla says will operate using the eight cameras used in its self-driving system and will have a screen mounted on its head in order to interact with humans.
Musk said that if Optimus Prime can be mass-produced in the next two years, it will cost less than a car at scale, perhaps $25,000 ($167,400).
Optimus Prime is a new concept introduced by Musk at the first Tesla AI Day event on August 19 last year.
