Tencent today announced that it has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Daimler Greater China Investments Limited, a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
The two parties will cooperate strategically in the field of high-level autonomous driving, using cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence technologies to speed up the simulation, testing and application of Mercedes-Benz’s autonomous driving technology.
Tencent said the cooperation will support Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia to work together to develop self-driving car technology in China. To this end, the partners will establish a joint self-driving lab to jointly accelerate Mercedes-Benz’s self-driving technology development in China in the self-driving tool chain, verification services and other related areas.
According to the report, Tencent will provide Mercedes-Benz with integrated, high-performance and stable cloud service support through IT architecture, tools and platforms. At the same time, Tencent will provide its accumulation in the field of Telematics security to support Mercedes-Benz’s autonomous driving research and development in China.
So far, Tencent has reached cooperation with more than 40 car companies in the field of smart mobility, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, FAW, Changan, Dongfeng, GAC and Great Wall.
