TechInsights (formerly Strategy Analytics) released a report today that Lenovo-Motorola’s Q4 global smartphone shipments in 2022 will drop by 33% year-on-year.
The report noted that Lenovo-Motorola’s wholesale revenue declined (-21% YoY) less than the decline in shipments, due to an 18% YoY increase in wholesale ASP. However, the vendor remained profitable during the quarter. The Americas still account for the majority of Lenovo-Motorola’s share, but Asia Pacific and Western Europe hold great potential.
From a regional perspective, Lenovo-Motorola’s market share declined in all major regions except Western Europe, TechInsights said. The vendor managed to break into the top 10 in 3 regions – Central Latin America, North America and Western Europe. Central Latin America is by far the company’s largest region. Next is North America. Combined, the Americas region accounted for a significant portion of the company’s total shipments for the quarter.
In terms of models, the Lenovo-Motorola G series contributed most of the sales, followed by the E and Edge series. TechInsights says Lenovo-Motorola needs to boost shipments of 5G models.
