TechInsights: Global smartphone shipments down 0.3% in Q3 2023

According to the latest data released by TechInsights. Global smartphone shipments in Q3 2023 were 296 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3%. This is the ninth consecutive quarter of annual decline in smartphone sales.

2023Q3 Shipment Volume and Share of TOP5 Brands attached:

 Samsung shipped 59.5 million units and had a market share of 20%, down 7.6% year-on-year;

 Apple shipped 46.6 million units and had a market share of 15.7%, down 3.9% year-on-year;

 Xiaomi shipped 41.5 million units and had a market share of 14.0%, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%;

 OPPO shipped 27.7 million units and had a market share of 9.3%, down 5.8% year-on-year;

 Tecno shipped 26.4 million units, with a market share of 8.9%, a year-on-year increase of 39.7%;

Among the remaining brands, vivo ranks sixth on the list, and its smartphone shipments fell 17% year-on-year in Q3 2023; Honor phones benefited from the strong performance of the Chinese market, with a market share of 5% this quarter; realme remained eighth position, with a market share of nearly 5% this quarter; Lenovo-Motorola ranked ninth with a market share of 4% in this quarter, a year-on-year increase of 11%; Huawei ranked tenth on the list, with a year-on-year shipment growth of 44%.

TechInsights said annual (smartphone) declines have slowed significantly, from -8% last quarter to -0.3% this quarter, suggesting a bottom may have been reached and a modest rebound will occur in 2024. Coupled with normal inventory levels and improving end-user demand, as well as new product launch cycles from major players such as Samsung and Apple, the global smartphone market has stabilized during the quarter.

It is worth mentioning that 8 of the top ten smartphone brands in the world are Chinese brands. Among them, 5 manufacturers, Xiaomi, Tecno, Honor, Lenovo-Motorola and Huawei, have achieved positive annual growth rates. All these Chinese brands In total, an annual growth rate of 5% was achieved.
