TCL’s Thunderbird official announcement will be released on October 13 Thunderbird X2 AR glasses, called “consumer level true AR glasses milestone”.
The glasses were previously unveiled at CES 2023 and IFA 2023, the configuration information and the official said it is a new generation of binocular full-colour MicroLED optical waveguide AR glasses.
The AR glasses are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, equipped with a 590mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and feature a binocular, full-colour MicroLED optical waveguide display with a claimed brightness of 1,000 nits, a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, and support for 16.77 million colours.
Thunderbird X2 is equipped with a 16MP camera that supports still photo, video, and time-lapse functions, as well as a 0.7cc ultra-compact full-color MicroLED light engine component, diffractive light waveguide high luminance 3x brightness, and micron-level binocular fusion for a natural display effect.
In terms of AR presentation, Thunderbird X2 chooses to be closer to Google Glass than Microsoft HoloLens. For example, equipped with intelligent GPS navigation function, in the process of moving, the screen information of Thunderbird X2 can be updated in real time following the user’s journey, which is convenient for quick positioning and interaction.
The glasses can also pop up phone calls and messages, or translate conversations between people in real-time AI. On top of that, users will also be able to listen to music with it (supposedly without sound leakage), and the camera will be able to shoot first-perspective videos.
