Tassei showcases Stream Card for wireless streaming of PC games to Nintendo Switch

Many gamers prefer to stream PC games to mobile devices through solutions such as Steam Link. However, on the Nintendo Switch platform, similar functions are still missing. Interestingly, at this Tokyo Game Show (Tokyo Game Show 2022), Tassei showed a set of novel hardware accessories – it is the “Stream” that can stream PC games to Nintendo Switch via Wi-Fi Card”.

The Stream Card is about the size of a Nintendo Switch game cartridge and fits easily into the system card slot.

While the Stream Card seems to be doing well, Tassei still needs to find a partner to help it mass-produce and distribute the product.

Despite its small size, Tassei has integrated a set of wireless transmission modules for it. The built-in SoC can perform some local processing to transmit the signal to a handheld device such as a Switch.

During the demo, Tassei used an Intel NUC console running Stray, as well as an OLED version of the Nintendo Switch handheld.

Even better, attendees can use the Switch Pro controller to play the game, and the picture can be displayed on the screen of the two devices separately so that everyone can feel how low the input lag is.

According to 4Gamer, although not very suitable for multiplayer online competitive games, other types of game experience are not bad – the rapid growth of cloud gaming and wireless streaming shows that players don’t really mind this.

For reference, Valve’s Steam Link allows users to remotely play games on devices like smartphones or less powerful PCs.

If the Stream Card can be successfully promoted, Switch players with limited device performance may also be able to successfully play 3A masterpieces such as “Ayrden’s Ring” or “Spider-Man”.
