The Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE is expected to be a revamped or tweaked version of the Xiaomi Civi 2 (model number 2209129SC), which is exclusive to the Chinese market. As the Xiaomi 12 Lite, 5G NE has already received some important certifications, the device is expected to be available at the end of this month.

The FCC certification for the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE shows three configurations. 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. It offers connectivity with 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS and NFC. The device will likely come pre-installed with the MIUI 13 operating system based on Android 13. The listings from IMDA and EEC do not reveal any major information about the device’s specifications.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 comes with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with curved edges. It offers FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Dual selfie camera with 32MP + 32MP on the front. 50MP main camera on the rear, 20MP ultra-wide angle camera and 2MP macro camera.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It has a built-in 4500mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging.

Note that in July this year, the Xiaomi 12 Lite International Edition was released with a Snapdragon 778G chip, based on 6nm architecture, with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The phone features a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with support for 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

Mi 11 Lite to be discontinued soon; rumours

According to MySmartPrice, a renowned site from India, Xiaomi will launch its Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G smartphone in India soon. It will upgrade the Mi 11 Lite smartphone, and hence the Mi 11 Lite will get discontinued in the country soon after the release of the upgraded version. However, the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G will be continued to sell in the market.

The report also makes sense as the Mi 11 Lite wasn’t an extraordinary device, and as the successor will hit the market, the brand will discontinue the product. It was a decent device offering specifications like a 90Hz Super AMOLED panel with Dolby Vision support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G and a 64-megapixels triple rear camera setup.

Xiaomi Azerbaijan’s Instagram account says that from now until July 8, users can pre-order Xiaomi 12 Lite through Xiaomi’s official website in the country, but there is no pre-order link on the website at the moment.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite will feature a 6.55-inch, 120Hz refresh rate OLED panel with HDR10+ support. In terms of cameras, the device will feature a 108MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor that will likely be paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. On the software front, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will boot up Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box. Lastly, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will come with a 4,300mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging via a USB Type-C charging port.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite is expected to be priced between Rs 24,000 and Rs 30,000 in India. The device is most likely to launch in the global market in July and could enter the Indian market sometime in the third quarter of 2022.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite is a follow-up of the Xiaomi 12 series launched at the end of 2021. The 12 series packed a total of three devices during its launch event. Xiaomi 12 Pro, 12, and 12x graced the December launch event. But judging from the previous Xiaomi flagship series, the Mi11, we can be sure that Xiaomi has unfinished business. The leaked images of the 12 Lite are crisp and clear, so one can see in detail what this device looks like. Weibo blogger WHYLAB is responsible for the leaked Xiaomi 12 Lite images, which are available on his page. We can notice a few changes from the Xiaomi 12 trio launched in December.

The design of the Xiaomi trio uses a curved back frame, but this is not the case with the Xiaomi 12 Lite leaked images. The leaked images showcase a 90° flat edge design, this might help users better grip the device. We can also see the nature of the screen from the leaked images.
