Microsoft announced that it will cooperate with Inworld AI to develop Xbox tools to enable developers to create AI-based characters, stories and tasks.

According to reports, this cooperation will mainly include an “AI Design Copilot” system, which Xbox developers can use to create detailed scripts, dialogue trees, task lines, etc.

“At Xbox, we believe that with better tools, creators can make more extraordinary games,” explained Zhang Haiyan, general manager of Xbox Game AI.

She said the collaboration will bring together Inworld’s expertise in using generative AI models for character development, Microsoft’s cloud-based AI solutions, including Azure OpenAI services, Microsoft Research’s technical insights into future games, and the Xbox team’s work on The advantages of creator tools are designed to serve all developers.

It is seen from official information that this multi-platform artificial intelligence toolset will include “AI Design Copilot” for scripts and dialogues, as well as an AI character that can be integrated into games and used to dynamically generate stories, tasks and dialogues.

Microsoft also mentioned that Inworld has been working on AI NPCs that can react to player actions on their own, much like ChatGPT or Bing Chat respond to user queries.

They believe these AI NPCs will have unique responses, such as vocal tones, and bring storylines to the game with a variety of possible dialogues or faces.

“Artificial intelligence has long been an integral part of game development, with applications ranging from AI enemies to spawning processes and more,” said Ilya Gelfenbeyn, CEO of Inworld AI. “Large-scale language models and generative AI The emergence of the game opens up new opportunities for storytelling and character interaction in games.”

Of course, the use of generative AI in creative fields like game design or voice acting is controversial, such as when the Screen Actors Guild of America (SAG-AFTRA) recently voted to authorize a strike by game performers.

“Between leveraging AI and low wages, people working in video games face many of the same issues as those working in the film and television industries,” said Ray Rodriguez, chief contracts officer at SAG-AFTRA.

According to documents disclosed in September this year, Microsoft had planned to acquire Nintendo. Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser recently accepted an interview with the media and commented on the previously disclosed information, saying: “We have a good relationship with Microsoft.”

It was reported in September this year that an email released in August 2020 showed that Spencer believed that Nintendo’s board of directors was actively promoting the appreciation of the company’s stock at that time, and Microsoft was the most likely American company to cooperate.

Considering that Microsoft board member Valueact is also acquiring a large amount of Nintendo stock, Spencer believes this will create opportunities for both parties, and Microsoft’s board can fully support the acquisition of Nintendo (and Valve) should the opportunity arise.

In an interview today, Bowser responded to the previously disclosed acquisition plan, saying:

We have a very good relationship with Microsoft and have deep cooperation in many aspects, and this has been reflected in Switch.

Minecraft is now on Switch, we’re bringing the Banjo-Kazooie franchise to Super Smash Bros., and we look forward to this partnership continuing.

Microsoft signed a 10-year contract with Nintendo earlier this year in order to promote the acquisition of Blizzard. In the future, it hopes to introduce series of games such as “Call of Duty” to the Switch console.

“Starfield” game director Todd Howard mentioned in an interview with “Famitsu” that “Starfield” will launch an official MOD tool next year. He added that developers at Bethesda Game Studios love the possibilities that mods bring, so they’ll be “working on it in a big way.”

It is noted that this news is consistent with the statement of Bethesda publishing director Pete Hines. He previously confirmed that both the PC version and the Xbox version of “Starfield” will support Mods, but the specific time has not yet been announced.

But when asked about “the origin of the protagonist changes according to the player’s choices,” Todd said that he hopes players can play the roles they create in the game, such as soldiers, doctors, professors, chefs, etc.

What harm can come from continuing to sin? Todd said different cities will become hostile, with guards attacking players and players potentially being fined and imprisoned.

“Baldur’s Gate 3” is a game developed and published by Larian Studios. It will be available on the PC platform on August 3 and on the Sony PlayStation 5 platform on September 6.

Larian’s publishing director recently tweeted that the game won’t be coming to Xbox until 2024 as the development team is overcoming a “huge technical hurdle,” and plans to provide an update on development by the end of 2023.

The release director of Larian stated that “Baldur’s Gate 3” has not signed an exclusive agreement. Since the Series S game console cannot work properly in the local online mode, it needs to be optimized for the Microsoft Xbox platform.

The contents of Larian’s official update log are as follows:

We’re always working to bring the game to as many platforms as possible. We’re optimistic about Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series X, but we still need to make sure the game runs without compromise in multiplayer and split-screen modes in the Xbox X/S ecosystem.

We have made great efforts and will continue to forge ahead. Just like the PS5 version, we will announce the release once everything is ready. Please stay tuned, we will update the information as soon as possible.
