Microsoft will bring the Xbox Elite 2 grip to the company’s Xbox Design Lab later this year, meaning Xbox users will be able to order custom color versions of the Xbox Elite 2 in the same way they currently do for the existing Xbox line of S/X grips.

“Gamer choice has always been at the heart of the Elite Series design philosophy. That’s why we’re also excited to announce that we’ll be bringing the Elite Wireless Series 2 grips to the Xbox Design Lab later this holiday season,” explained Daniel Ruiz, senior marketing manager for Xbox accessories.” We will have more details to share at a later date.”

Along with the announcement of the Xbox Elite 2 controller coming to the Design Lab, Microsoft also announced a more affordable Xbox Elite 2 “Core” controller, which retails for $129.99 but does not come with the full version’s own set of interchangeable parts, which must be purchased separately.

Microsoft hasn’t revealed what color options will be available for the Xbox Elite 2 grips in the Design Lab, but with the Core model available in white, the odds are this new colorway won’t be absent either.

Microsoft last updated the Design Lab earlier this year with new pastel colors — soft pink, orange, green and purple — and a new camouflage colorway with matching side covers. Xbox Design Lab also offers metal finishes and rubberized grips, which allow players to customize nearly every part of the Xbox grip’s exterior, and players can paint individual colors on the parts. Even printed text can be added to the panel for an additional fee.
