Samsung Internet is the only well-known web browser available for Wear OS. Last week it disappeared from the Google Play Store and many people felt sorry for it. Fortunately, Samsung’s Web browser for Wear OS has now returned to the Google Play Store.

It’s unclear why it was taken down and put back up, and the two versions of the app don’t seem to be different.

The launch of the Galaxy Watch 4 series, Samsung smartwatches abandoned TizenOS in favor of Google Wear OS, and shortly thereafter, Samsung launched the Samsung Internet Browser for the platform. Samsung Internet has been the only known web browser on the platform due to the lack of other web browsers for Wear OS, such as Google Chrome.

Initially, the Samsung Internet browser was only available for Samsung’s smartwatches. Later, Samsung Internet Browser was made available for download for other brands of Wear OS smartwatches as well.

If you are an Android user looking out to get a smartwatch, this article covers the best Wear OS smartwatches of 2022. The options on this list are the best you can get in the smartwatch market when shopping. Wear OS is Google’s software for smartwatches, it comes with a bunch of connectivity features and is quite user-friendly.

Sadly, not all smartwatches available for sale run Wear OS as they might prefer to use in-house software. Over the past few months, we have seen a few manufacturers start making use of Wear OS on their products. With Google’s software for smartwatches, users can fully experience the true Android ecosystem. Here are the best options buyers have when shopping for a Wear OS smartwatch.

Google Pixel Watch

At the Google I/O event some months ago, the company gave a sneak peek of their first smartwatch. After a series of leaks and teasers, Google finally launched the Pixel Watch at the Pixel 7 launch event. Just like the Pixel smartphones, the new Pixel Watch brought full Android goodness to the smartwatch industry.

This wearable device comes with a 1.2-inch AMOLED screen in a 3D-formed dome shape, making it stand out. Battery capacity here can last for 24 hours on a single charge and heavy usage. Being made by Google, this smartwatch offers some of the best cross-collaborative features with Android smartphones. It comes with inbuilt storage, memory, and functional apps at a starting price of $349.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

At the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Flip 4 launch event, the South Korean tech giant launched the Watch 5 series. This series consists of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro, both of which run Wear OS on One UI Watch software. By a mile, this is one of the best Wear OS smartwatches that anyone can buy in 2022.

It comes with a 1.36-inch AMOLED screen display and lacks the digital crown that is present on the Google Pixel Watch. To complement this lack, Samsung uses two physical buttons on the side of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro for navigation. The battery capacity here is larger than that on the Pixel Watch. For its inbuilt storage, it falls short in comparison to the Pixel Watch but offers a more premium experience that brings its starting price up to $399.

Fossil Gen 6 Wellness edition

Beautiful, classy, and suitable for a wide range of users are just a few ways to describe the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness edition. This is Fossil’s first smartwatch to launch with the most recent Wear OS update, and it is an amazing wearable device. Just like the other two options above, the Gen 6 Wellness edition comes with a round face design, making it a bit professional.

This smartwatch, there is a 1.28-inch Colour AMOLED screen display. It has two push buttons and a rotating home button or crown for navigation across the watch’s interface. For its battery capacity, the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness edition can last over 24 hours of heavy usage on a single charge. It also comes with inbuilt storage that happens to be smaller than that on both the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and the Google Pixel Watch. Lastly, at a starting price of $259, this is the most affordable Wear OS smartwatch on our list.

All options on our list of the best Wear OS smartwatches of 2022 come with health and sport features. Additionally, they are all water-resistant for at least 5ATM and support Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.2 version. There is support for Wi-Fi or LTE for internet connection while in use. These are the best options available when shopping for a Wear OS smartwatch in 2022.

Google has been improving the Keep app for Wear OS in recent months, integrating Material You elements, redesigning tiles and more. The latest update, 5.22.452.00.97, raises the device requirements to Android 11 and above. This means that older watches still running Wear OS 2 will no longer support the Google Keep app.

Wear OS 2 older watches visit the Play Store and search for Google Keep and it does not show the app. Accessing from web/mobile and looking at the “Compatibility of your active device” list, I found that the app is “not compatible with your device”.

Google’s official apps that are still supported on Wear OS 2 watches include Google, Gboard, Fit, Wallet, Messages, Camera, Clock, Wear OS by Google Smartwatch and YouTube Music. Wear OS 2 watches that already have Google Keep installed are not affected, but may not get the update in the future.

Google is likely to announce its Pixel Watch at its upcoming Pixel 7 event series on October 6 and we already have some clues as to the apps that will run on Wear OS, Google’s Android operating system for smartwatches and other wearable devices. Google albums, Google Home and personal security apps are among the apps that will presumably launch alongside the Pixel Watch next week.

Official images of Wear OS versions of Google Photos, Google Home and personal security apps grabbed from Play Store listings suggest that these apps may be coming to Wear OS. The system, also known simply as Wear, was formerly known as Android Wear.

\

At first glance, the Pixel Watch’s Google Photos watch interface appears to be very similar to Android 12’s lock screen. The photos have been rounded and cropped to match the design of the watch. In addition, there is some space at the top of the watch face to accommodate the date/day and time display configurations.

In addition, Google allows users to cycle through selected images throughout the day. the Google Home app for Wear OS showcases a card list design where smart home devices are listed within rectangular tabs. These tabs include an icon, background color, device name and room name. In one of the screenshots provided, you can also see a reminder about the “people you see”.

Finally, a screenshot of “Call” also shows an option to switch to a personal safety app to help call a predefined emergency contact or service.

Samsung is expected to launch its long-awaited Galaxy Watch5 Pro high-end smartwatch along with the Galaxy Z Fold4 / Z Flip4 folding screen smartphone later on in the year. Previously, the foreign media has revealed many details about it, but recently there is new news that the Wear OS wearable device will also usher in better battery life.

Earlier famous tipster @UniverseIce revealed on Twitter that the battery life of Galaxy Watch5 Pro, a Wear OS wearable device, is expected to reach 3 days.

Obviously, this means that Samsung needs to make sufficient improvements in hardware and software to achieve such high energy efficiency. For reference, the current smartwatch competitors on the market have a battery life of about 1~2 days.

Earlier rumors had mentioned that the Galaxy Watch5 Pro would come with a 572 mAh battery, which is quite a bit larger than its predecessors, but this is expected to ensure that Samsung delivers the experience that most people expect.

In addition to the larger battery, the company will obviously be active in other areas of improvement. After all, since the release of the Galaxy Watch4, Samsung has teamed up with Google to bring a number of improvements to the Wear OS.
