Recently, the UK Space Agency announced that it will allocate £50 million (currently about RMB 418 million) as part of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Advanced Research in Telecommunications Services (ARTS) for a range of projects including the development of new satellite constellations, the ground systems needed to access them, or the entire end-to-end system for delivering new services to customers.

Specific projects may include integrating 5G systems, upgrading infrastructure, expanding IoT connectivity, and supporting new markets and services, such as drones or unmanned transportation.

George Freeman, UK Science Minister, said, “Developing space capabilities and maximizing commercial opportunities is part of the UK’s plan to become a leading force in space and to build on an industry that already contributes £16.5 billion (currently about $137.94 billion) to the UK economy. part of the development.”

Freeman suggested that the £50 million of BSA funding would help more companies enter the booming UK space telecommunications industry and help drive growth in the UK economy.

The investment will create space-based networks that rival wired terrestrial networks, help UK operators use disruptive new technologies and business models, and provide higher quality connectivity, higher bandwidth, lower latency and greater security to remote areas.
