According to the Japan Broadcasting Association, Toyota Motor Company applied to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to recall its Prius series cars.

The recall covers more than 135,000 Toyota Prius vehicles built between November 2022 and this month.

Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism stated that the switch on the outer rear door of the car has insufficient waterproof performance. If a large amount of water is flushed, it may cause a short circuit of internal parts and even cause the door to suddenly open while driving.

So far, there have been three reports of doors opening while driving at low speeds, but no accidents have occurred.

Toyota will adopt temporary store closure measures at dealers across the country and replace parts for free as soon as they are ready.

IT House learned that the Toyota Prius was launched in December 1997 and was equipped with dual-engine power. It was the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle in the world and one of the representative models of early hybrid vehicles in the world. This model It was sold to more than 40 countries and regions around the world in 2001. Its largest markets are Japan and North America. It has currently launched multiple iterative versions.

The official announcement of the fifth-generation Toyota Prius will be released at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16. Toyota calls it “hybrid rebirth”. The fifth-generation hybrid system launched is expected to launch two models, a gasoline-electric hybrid version and a plug-in hybrid version, and it should be listed overseas sometime next year.

Japanese media reports say the model will ride on the new E3 platform, utilizing the tried and tested TNGA-C and the pure electric architecture that underpins the bZ series.

In addition to the most likely hybrid models, there are also rumors that Toyota will launch a hydrogen-electric hybrid vehicle in 2025. The latter is said to be the first mass-produced model to use Toyota’s hydrogen ICE engine, although it has not yet been confirmed. Credibility is not low.

Judging from the poster, the exterior design of the new car will continue the hatchback shape of the current model, which has some similarities with the recently released Crown and Toyota bZ3, such as the C-shaped headlights. I believe that in the future, this will also become the DNA design element of Toyota’s many new cars.

Judging from the previous revelations and certification information, the new car has a length, width and height of 460017801420mm, and will be equipped with 17-inch and 19-inch wheels.

There are also reports that the new car will be equipped with a new generation hybrid system based on a 1.8L / 2.0L four-cylinder engine, and a plug-in hybrid system based on a 2.0L engine; among them, the 1.8L hybrid version will launch 2 models, The 2.0L hybrid version will launch 1 model, and the 2.0L plug-in hybrid version will launch 1 model, with a pure electric range of 75km, but this version is not expected to appear until 2023.
