Tesla’s official microblogging announced that the first global deliveries of Semi trucks will be opened on December 2, in the Nevada Super Factory.

On Oct. 7, Elon Musk tweeted that the Tesla Semi electric truck is officially in production and will be delivered on Dec. 1, with PepsiCo as the first delivery target. Elon Musk said the Semi will have a range of 500 miles (about 805 kilometers) and will be “super fun to drive. Elon Musk later added that a future version of the Semi could have a range of 621 miles (about 1,000 kilometers).

The Tesla Semi electric truck was originally unveiled in November 2017. The specifications released at the time showed that the vehicle could reach 60 mph (about 96.56 km/h) in 20 seconds with a full load. And it can maintain “freeway-level speed” even on steep hills. In addition, Tesla says the car is capable of completing 70 percent of its charge in 30 minutes.

The vehicle was reportedly ordered by numerous companies shortly after its debut in 2017, including 100 by PepsiCo, 130 by Walmart Canada, 40 by American beer brewing company Anheuser-Busch and 15 by Fidori, a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo. Tesla initially planned to start delivering the Semi in 2019, but that has been delayed for several years due to parts shortages and other reasons.

The Tesla semi truck Semi has been teased for years, and so far only a few have been photographed on the road, far from actually making it into the hands of customers on a large scale. However, Tesla has just confirmed that the long-awaited Semi is coming soon. According to a Twitter post from Tesla last night, the company will hold a “delivery event” for the long-delayed Semi at its Giga plant in Nevada on December 1.

Tesla hasn’t confirmed the event, which Electrek reports will be exclusive to shareholders who win a random lottery through Tesla’s new shareholder program.

If the event goes ahead next month, it could be a big boost for Tesla’s market, as it will then be the only electric semi on the market.

The car’s range has yet to be confirmed and any real specs are hard to come by, but the actual delivery of a physical vehicle to customers is an achievement in itself.

Given that Elon Musk is currently laying off people as the new CEO of Twitter, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether he’ll be present at the launch of the new car.

The US electric car maker Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed last month that the company will start delivering the electric semi truck later this year. Job postings on Tesla’s official website show that the company is hiring technicians for the “Semi Service Program.”

Tesla’s own transportation fleet has been using the Semi electric truck for several months, but the company has yet to deliver the electric truck to customers. Now Tesla is recruiting more technical service personnel to prepare for the delivery of the Semi to customers.

Information on Tesla’s website says, “We are looking for experienced technical service personnel to expand our Semi service program. The company also said, “Our goal is to find experienced technicians who want to take their careers to new heights. Their job will be to provide technical support for the product and be responsible for service development and be front-line technicians to provide face-to-face service to our new customers.”

Tesla said the technical service staff currently being recruited will work in Fremont, Sacramento, Modesto and the Central Valley of California.

Walmart, PepsiCo and DHL have already ordered Tesla’s Semi electric truck.

The standard Tesla Semi electric truck is reportedly priced at $150,000 and features a battery pack with a capacity of up to 600 kilowatt-hours that can travel 300 miles (about 482 kilometers) on a single charge. Tesla also offers a 1,000 kWh battery pack for the Semi truck, which can travel 500 miles (804 km) on a single charge for $30,000. The Tesla Semi electric truck can be charged up to 70 percent in half an hour and can weigh up to 82,000 pounds (about 37 tons) fully loaded. Tesla claims that the Semi electric truck can save fleet operators $200,000 in fuel costs in the first three years of operation.
