The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a film and TV adaptation of the classic game IP, was released in China on April 5 and was co-produced by Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo.

The Movie” is based on the game “Super Mario Bros.” released by Nintendo, directed by Aaron Horvath & Michael Jelenick (Teen Titans Assault) and written by Matthew Fogel (Little Yellow Men 2, The Lego Movie 2). Chris Parratt is the voice of Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy is the voice of Princess Peach.

The report that 79% of gamers said they had recently played retro games. These “retro” games grew up with the X generation (people born between 1964 and 1980) and millennials (people born in the 1980s and 1990s), so it is not surprising that they attract the attention of gamers in this age group.

What is slightly surprising is that Generation Z (those born between 1995-2009) also enjoys games made in the 80s and 90s. The reason for playing these retro games was “nostalgia” according to 38% of respondents.

According to the survey report, the five most popular games are Super Mario, Tetris, Pac-Man, Super Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda.
