Sony recently released a new InZone Buds gaming earbuds, priced at $199.99, but unfortunately, the earbuds are not compatible with PlayStation Portal.

The main reason for this is that the InZone Buds gaming earbuds do not support PlayStation Link technology, which is currently limited to the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets.

Since PlayStation Portal does not support Bluetooth, and PlayStation Portal does not support PlayStation Link, it means that the earbuds and controller cannot be connected.

In addition, the PULSE Explore and InZone Buds gaming earbuds are both priced at $199.99. For gamers, the former may be a better choice.

Note: PlayStation Portal is Sony’s upcoming game handheld console, priced at $200, that relies on Wi-Fi to stream games from the PS5 game console.

Sony recently announced the fiscal year 2023 Q1 results report, so the media and the community are curious, Sony did not update the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Sony laid out its reasoning for doing so during its recent earnings call, making it clear that it will not be disclosing the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers during financial results calls in the future.

Sony said it will focus on improving the PlayStation Plus service in the future, exploring ways to make it grow and become more attractive.

Sony said it will expand the PS + business by releasing games on platforms other than the PlayStation game console (including PCs), and follow the example of Xbox Game Pass to improve the appeal of PS Plus.

Sony’s last disclosure dates back to the end of March 2023, with an updated subscriber figure of 47.4 million.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently conducted an antitrust review of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, requiring game companies such as Sony to provide relevant confidential data. Because Sony used a marker to blacken some of the data, but it can still be seen after scanning, so the data was stripped by the media and netizens.

These data include the development budget, sales revenue, number of employees, etc. of some well-known games on the Sony PlayStation platform. For example:

The development budget of "Horizon: The Extremis of the West" is 212 million U.S. dollars, which takes five years and requires 300 employees.

The development budget of "The Last of Us 2" is 220 million U.S. dollars, requiring 200 full-time employees.

In the United States alone, the "Call of Duty" series will bring in $800 million in revenue for Sony's PlayStation platform in 2021, and may reach $1.5 billion globally.

"Call of Duty" players spend an average of $15.9 billion a year on other things they buy

It is worth mentioning that the shooting cost of HBO’s “The Last of Us” live-action drama is about 100-150 million US dollars, which is not as good as the development budget of “The Last of Us 2”.

Elsewhere in the document, Sony’s PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said that 1 million PlayStation users only play the “Call of Duty” series, and as many as 20 million spend a lot or most of their money on the PlayStation platform. Time to play this series.

The purpose of Sony providing these data to the FTC is to prove that if Microsoft makes the “Call of Duty” series into an exclusive game, it will cause serious damage to Sony (despite previous emails showing otherwise).

In addition, Microsoft also accidentally revealed some internal information during the review process. Earlier this week, the media exposed Microsoft’s internal emails, showing that Microsoft had considered acquiring game companies such as Sega, Bungie, and IO Interactive. According to Matt Booty, head of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios, Microsoft’s goal at the time was to “spend money to kill Sony.” In response, Microsoft said the emails were just “an industry trend we never pursued” and had nothing to do with the Activision Blizzard acquisition.

Sony has released an official business report showing that PlayStation has higher Brand Momentum than Nintendo’s Switch and Microsoft’s Xbox.

Sony drew this picture based on the percentage of respondents over the past five years, saying that PlayStation has higher “overall momentum” than “Brand B” (Nintendo) and “Brand C “(Xbox)

According to the chart, Sony’s brand momentum peaked in 2020 with the launch of the PS5 and has been at a steady high for the past 6 years since then.

Brand momentum refers to the combined factors of a brand’s market position, market influence, and its ability to consistently beat its competitors.

Brand momentum is measured by three factors: quality (product value proposition, ecology, etc.), speed (market agility, the ability to keep up with change) and direction (the sum of the management vision as perceived by the customer plus brand integrity).
