The new “Light Metaphor” sensors released by Sony are LYT 900, LYT 800, LYT 700, LYT 600 and LYT 500, all with 50 megapixel sensor specifications. Sony says this pixel specification is the resolution level commonly used in smartphones.

Among them, the highest positioned LYT 900 is 1/0.98 inches, the light-sensitive area is 9.05% larger than the traditional one-inch sensor used in digital cameras such as the RX100. Sony says the sensor is built for high quality shooting and can achieve high grayscale values with low power consumption. The second flagship LYT800 is Sony’s first image sensor with a double-layer transistor pixel structure, allowing for high saturation signal volume. Sony points out that the image quality level of this sensor of only 1/1.43 inches is already close to that of the 1-inch large base sensor, which has a light-sensitive area 2.04 times larger.

The lowest positioning is designed for front selfie purposes LYT 500, this sensor is 1/2.9-inch specifications, using a small 0.6um pixel design, equipped with an Always-on (always-on) function.

Sony Semiconductor Solutions Group officially launched a new brand of cell phone image sensor “light metaphor” LYTIA, which aims to achieve a cell phone image sensor beyond the past image creation experience.

Sony said, the “light metaphor” is Sony’s design, manufacture and sales of cell phone image sensor product brand, Sony will be through the “light metaphor” and cell phone manufacturers to cooperate with cell phone users to communicate.

According to the introduction, “light metaphor” is Sony in order to meet the smartphone users “more freedom to express and share the desire to move” and the development of cell phone image sensor will be through a variety of technologies to achieve high-quality photos and video shooting.

The official description shows that the brand name “LYTIA” is derived from Lyra (Lyra) and Light (light), and the Chinese name “Light Metaphor” means “to know light”, “to tell light”, and “to tell light”. The Chinese name “Light Metaphor” means “to know light” and “to tell light”, hoping to convey the concept of “an image sensor that strives to truly express the scene in front of us”.
