CMOS image sensor supplier SmartSens recently officially launched the Star Light (SL) Series super starlight series large-area 8MP image sensor for high-end smart security applications – SC880SL.

The new product is based on SmartClarity-2 technology and SFCPixel patented technology of Smartsens. It adopts BSI process combined with large target surface design, which greatly improves the sensitivity of the product. At the same time, SC880SL is equipped with Smartsens NIR + technology, which can achieve excellent night vision imaging performance even in ultra-low light environments. In addition, with the support of technologies such as Smart Technology and ultra-low noise peripheral reading circuits, the high-temperature imaging performance of the product has been greatly improved, and it supports 4K night vision full-color images.

Smartsens’s latest SC880SL adopts a 1/1.2″ large target surface design based on the BSI process, and has a larger photosensitive area per pixel (8MP, 2.988μm), which can show brightness in dark light environments Higher and clearer images. According to the test, the SNR1s of SC880SL is less than 0.2lux, which can achieve low-light imaging performance comparable to that of Stack process image sensors of the same specification.

Compared with the same standard Stack process image sensor in the industry, SC880SL’s full-well electronics have been greatly improved by 33%, and the maximum signal-to-noise ratio has increased by 2dB, supporting excellent low-light imaging performance in the field of security and smart vision.

The SC880SL superstar-level large-target image sensor is equipped with near-infrared sensitivity NIR + technology. The QE quantum efficiency in the 850nm band can reach 38%, and the QE quantum efficiency in the 940nm band can reach 24%. It can still achieve excellent night vision imaging performance even in the lighting environment.

Smartsens further improves the imaging performance of CIS in high-temperature application scenarios. Through process upgrading and optimization, SC880SL upgrades the barrier layer SiN used for CT etching from traditional material to high-stress SiN film quality, which greatly improves the high-temperature performance of the product. lower image quality. At the same time, through Smartsens ultra-low noise peripheral reading circuit technology, the generation of dark current and white spots is greatly suppressed. Compared with the previous generation technology products, the dark current of SC880SL is reduced by 35%, and the DSNU is significantly reduced by 50%, so that the camera can output high-quality images even in high temperature environments. In addition, SC880SL can also support dynamic line overlapping HDR (Staggered HDR) image output, and the dynamic range can be increased to more than 100dB.
