During the Xiaomi Civi 1S product launch event, the company also announced the Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 10. This device is a smart home product that can double as a tablet. A simple device for getting stuff done around the house, from keeping children entertained to making and accepting a video call.

This device has a 10.1-inch touch screen display, making it an interactive smart home device. With it, users can control all other smart home appliances at home like smart bulbs, smart doorbells, etc. With a financial grade security chip and a quad-core A53 processor, the Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 10 can protect users’ data whilst carrying out activities on the device with ease. There are child safety features on this device such as face and voice detection. Children are also provided with educational applications to keep their tender minds engaged while using this smart home device. For video calls, this device comes loaded with a 115° ultra-wide 5MP front-facing camera. For added user security, there is a slider to block the camera spot when not in use.

The voice assistant used on this device is Xiaomi’s Xiao AI voice assistant support. Users will be able to wake the device by just using their voice to pass commands that’ll be carried out by the smart home screen. Establishing an internet connection with the Smart Home Screen 10 is via Wi-Fi. 

The Smart Home Screen 10 is available for pre-order at the price of 949 yuan (~$146). China will be the first region to get this device, and it’ll go on sale on April 29. Will this device find its way into the international market? At the moment, there is no solid proof that the Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 10 will go on sale globally.

We are all familiar with Apple’s HomePod, which is a smart speaker from the company. It is a smart speaker in the sense that it goes beyond just playing music out loud, it can use Siri functions to control your smart home appliances. This device is part of Apple’s ever-growing ecosystem which consists of the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod, AirTag, and all other Apple online services.

A lot of other tech companies have their ecosystem which also comprises a smart speaker, so the competition is high. To edge above the competition, Apple is changing the way you relate with your HomePod. In a statement from Mark Gurman, he identified the possible presence of a HomePod that packs multiple features into a tiny speaker.

With Apple aiming to keep its users ever closer to its products and services, it is adding extra features to the HomePod to make it more useful. A possible new HomePod that Apple has in work combines the abilities of a regular HomePod, an Apple TV, and a selfie camera. With this HomePod, users will be able to stream films and watch shows on their TV using the Apple TV service and control their smart home appliances with the help of Siri and FaceTime friends and family.

This product is still in the early stage of development and there is no news as to when this device will make it to the mainstream market. But does the possibility of this device being launched show that Apple might cut the production of stand-alone Apple TV boxes and just sell this new HomePod? If this is the case, then they will surely be saving a lot of money for the company by packing more than one feature into just one device.
