Remember the Samsung “GOS slowdown” incident in 2022? Samsung is running Game Optimization Service (GOS) and Game Booster in the background to limit CPU and GPU performance to optimize phone life and improve phone temperature.

Samsung DX CEO JH Han apologized to shareholders for the Galaxy S22 series’ limited App performance issue at Samsung’s 54th annual shareholder’s meeting last March and promised that such an issue would not happen again.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series comes with a custom “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy” chip and enhanced heat dissipation by expanding the VC heat sink. Theoretically, Samsung should not enable GOS-like options again, but as confirmed by 9to5Google, Android Authority and many other foreign technology media, Samsung also has “GOS” problems on the newly launched Galaxy S23 series.

The option is called “Game Booster Labs” on the Galaxy S23 series and is off by default, which means the GOS option is enabled by default. When users try to enable “Game Booster Labs”, they will be warned that although it can improve performance, it may cause the device’s temperature to rise.

In the explanation, it says: “Turning on this experimental game performance management system can improve the performance of some games. When turned on, it may cause the phone to heat up”.
