Samsung Korea official website today announced that it will bring a feature called “repair mode” for Galaxy phones, so as to prevent the leakage of users’ personal information.

Samsung said the “repair mode” is a feature that allows users to choose not to disclose data when repairing their smartphones, and fundamentally eliminates the concern that some private companies may access or leak personal information during the repair process.

According to the report, users can turn on “Repair Mode” in the “Battery and Device Maintenance” menu in the “Settings” of the smartphone, and then the phone will reboot. After the phone is turned on again, users will not be able to access personal data such as photos, messages and accounts, and will only be able to use the default installed apps.

When the phone is repaired, users can exit “repair mode” through pattern/fingerprint recognition, and the phone will restart again and open access to personal data.

Samsung will first bring “Repair Mode” to Galaxy S21 series phones through a software update, and plans to expand it to some other models in the future, with other regions expected to receive the feature soon.
