Samsung has begun pushing the One UI 5 Watch update based on Wear OS 4 for Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which also makes Galaxy Watch 4 ahead of Pixel Watch in terms of Wear OS 4 updates.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

It is noticed that many Reddit users have reported that their Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth version has received the One UI 5 Watch update. There have been no posts about the LTE version of the watch receiving the update.

This One UI 5 Watch update adds a series of new features to the old flagship Samsung smartwatch, including new watch faces and tiles. The new tiles include a new battery level tile that allows users to quickly check the remaining power of the watch. , there is also a Buds controller tile that allows users to turn on/off 360 audio, and a timer tile that allows users to quickly start a timer without opening a dedicated app.

In addition, updates to the Galaxy Watch 4 series also provide users with features such as personalized heart rate zones, irregular heart rhythm notifications, running tracking, advanced sleep guidance, automatic cycle exercise recording, and more.

The Galaxy Watch 4 series also adds the ability to control the volume and mute of incoming calls, and you can also use the keyboard during calls. These features are not available on the One UI 4 Watch.

Additionally, some underlying Wear OS 4 features are coming. For example, users can now pair their watch with a new phone without performing a full factory reset.

The update is approximately 1.7GB in size, so it’s best to download over a Wi-Fi network. If you don’t see the update yet, please be patient as it may be rolled out in stages.

Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series of smartwatches, but Apple phone users do not need to pay too much attention. Because since Samsung abandoned its own Tizen platform in 2021 and returned to the Wear OS system, and used this system on the Galaxy Watch 4 and later new smartwatches, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch is no longer compatible with iOS devices and cannot be used with iPhone pairing.

Why did Samsung suddenly decide to limit the functionality of its best smartwatch to an Android device? TechRadar interviewed Samsung Global Product Planning Director Junho Park (Junho Park) at the Samsung conference. He explained this as follows: “Our goal is: how to provide our customers with the best experience? We found that when Some of the major limitations that users encounter when pairing the Galaxy Watch with an iOS device are not caused by the watch itself or the core product. So we think there are still a lot of disconnects between the two systems, which is why we give up (on the Galaxy Watch One of the reasons for supporting iOS) — we couldn’t provide the same level of experience on Android and iOS.”

Park Jun-ho hinted that some of the limitations of the Samsung Galaxy Watch are not caused by “the watch itself.” It is noticed that not only iOS devices cannot use many functions of the Galaxy Watch, but some Android devices do not support them well. To make full use of the functions of the Galaxy Watch, users may really need a Samsung Galaxy phone.

Samsung confirmed that it has postponed the launch of the One UI Watch 5 beta program for the Galaxy Watch 4/5 series. Samsung announced in early May that it would launch a Beta testing program for the One UI Watch 5 system based on Wear OS 4 in June, but now it seems that Samsung has adjusted the testing program.

The news comes from the official channels of Samsung’s Korean community, but no new official shelf date has been provided, so it’s unclear how long Galaxy Watch 4/5 series users will have to wait.

Foreign tech media SamMobile believes that Samsung will launch the One UI Watch 5 beta program before releasing the Galaxy Watch 6 series of watches.

Samsung plans to hold a Galaxy Unpacked launch event on July 26 to launch the Galaxy Watch 6 series of watches with the One UI Watch 5 system pre-installed.

Samsung has confirmed that it will soon roll out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. The update will allow these devices to enhance the camera and audio experience of Galaxy phones.

After this update, Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will support 360-degree audio recording, which can add immersive sound to video content captured by Galaxy phones. Also, the camera controller on the Galaxy Watch will get new functionality.

The 360-degree audio recording feature will capture the sound in the video as it is heard in real life. This means it is now possible to record video with high-quality, lifelike audio without the need for expensive professional equipment.

This feature works by picking up 360-degree sound through the microphones in each earbud. Playing videos on devices that support 360-degree audio, such as the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, will provide users with an immersive and lifelike experience.

360-degree audio recording is the first feature in the Galaxy series to use the Bluetooth LE audio standard. Binaural recording is also possible on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro by using the left and right microphones simultaneously. This feature can be enabled for Galaxy Buds 2 Pro users when their headphones are paired with a Galaxy phone running One UI 5.0 or later that supports LE audio. Compatible with Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 devices, in addition to upcoming Samsung phones.

The Galaxy Watch camera controller app allows users to control the device’s camera from the wrist. Samsung is releasing an update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 that brings zoom control to the camera controller app.

Users can remotely control the zoom of the phone camera through the wrist. Pinch the dial or rotate the bezel to zoom in or out. This will make it easier to take group photos or selfies from a distance.

A software update for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro that enables 360-degree audio recording will be rolling out gradually starting today. The camera zoom control feature will be released for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series starting in February.

Google has now started pushing updates to WearOS smartwatches one after another, following an announcement last week, allowing them to navigate Google Maps maps over LTE cellular network connections or Wi-Fi without relying on the phone.

There are not many smartwatches that support WearOS, mainly Samsung brands, including Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

Launch Mode is a new menu added to the Google Maps Wear OS app, located between the Auto-launch and Terms of service menus.

Under the Launch Mode menu, you will see two options under the Navigation heading and will need to select the Watch only option so that you can start navigation directly from the app on your watch. These options will appear on Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE-enabled watches.

In addition to new features like Reading Mode and Digital Car Key for Android phones and tablets, Google is also bringing new features to smartwatches running Wear OS. Google has introduced 3 new Tiles (called “cards” in China) and improved native apps, and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 will get these new features early.

Google said it introduced 3 new Tiles for Wear OS smartwatches: Favorite Contacts, Sunrise Time and Sunset Time. Favorite Contacts serves all users, while the latter two show sunrise and sunset are not very useful for regular users, but may provide some help for photographers, athletes and people who like outdoor activities.

Tiles is a feature introduced by Google in WearOS 2.0. Most users don’t raise their wrist for more than 5 seconds on average, so the information on the watch must be easy to find, simple to interact with, and actionable, which is why Tiles was created.

Tiles is a widget-like UI that allows users to get the information they need and perform actions in a more convenient way. Adding, deleting, and reordering can be controlled through the mobile app.

Google Keep, the notes app, has also been updated to bring the ability to view tags, collaborators, photos, custom backgrounds, and even drawings. In addition, Google Assistant is integrated with the Adidas Running app, so Galaxy Watch users can request the Adidas Running app through Google Assistant to start a running workout.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra, one of the most popular flagships in the Android segment, has already attracted many consumers to get their hands on it. The latest news is that Samsung seems to be preparing to launch a Limited Edition Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone, a Galaxy Watch4 smartwatch, and a Wireless Charger Duo wireless charging pad combo. A teaser has reportedly been released on Samsung’s Vietnam portal, but as of SamMobile’s press time, we don’t know any more details.

The promotion banner suggests that the Galaxy S22 Ultra “Night Lively” series is scheduled to be launched on Friday and will only be on sale until June 30 (almost a week).

The original price is marked at VND42.67 million (US$1,835 / RMB12,300), while the current price is VND30.99 million (US$1,332 / RMB8,916).

It’s unclear why Samsung chose this time to release the Galaxy S22 Ultra Limited Edition Kit, or if it will be available in more market regions.

In terms of hardware specifications, the Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone and Galaxy Watch smartwatch in the kit is no different from the standard model.

Incidentally, Samsung earlier launched a special edition of the Galaxy S22 Diablo: Immortal in its home country of South Korea.

The package includes the Galaxy S22 smartphone body, phone case, mouse pad and a series of collectibles themed on Diablo: Immortals handheld game.
