An American mobile security manufacturer, recently cooperated with Samsung to create a privacy protection case called SafeCase for the Samsung Galaxy S22 phone.

This protective case is very thick, compared to other protective cases, the biggest highlight is the security system, which allows users to hardware disable the camera, microphone, cellular network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC to prevent attackers from monitoring them.

The SafeCase case communicates with Samsung Galaxy S22’s Hardware Device Manager (HDM) to enable/disable certain functions and features.

The HDM on the Galaxy S22 is a security layer under the operating system with higher privileges than the operating system itself, allowing it to control the hardware by bypassing the operating system.

This means that even if a hacker attacks the Galaxy S22’s system, SafeCase can still disable the camera, microphone, and wireless. SafeCase appears to be very useful for private companies and government agencies, as it allows them to prevent attackers from spying on employees or employees from disclosing sensitive information.

The official press release did not find information on the price and release date of the SafeCase protective case, and it is not clear whether it is suitable for the S22 mobile phone or the S22 series.

According to foreign technology media Sammyfans report, Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, Galaxy S22 Ultra in the installation of last December update, there are too fast power consumption, serious heat, performance degradation and many other problems. And after installing the January patch this year, the situation became even worse.

Samsung’s official support community and the Reddit community, and the discussion suggest that the issues may be caused by the chip’s mass production process. Both the Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip currently used in the series is partially produced by Samsung Foundry.

Users have discussed that Samsung Foundry’s manufacturing process is not up to standard, resulting in the inability to properly dissipate heat from the SoC, and the user experience is subject to these issues. However, the Galaxy S22 sold in some countries such as India has not been affected by this issue, which is mainly found in the Exynos 2200 models.

In order to bring the world’s most powerful GPU, Samsung partnered with AMD and used the Xclipse GPU in the Exynos 2200.

Due to heat issues with the Exynos and production efficiency issues with Foundry, Samsung turned to Qualcomm and decided to drop its own SoCs from the Galaxy S series. this year, the Galaxy S23 series is using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset made by TSMC worldwide.

The media hopes that Samsung can solve the battery power consumption and heating problems of Galaxy S22 devices through firmware updates as soon as possible. Even if Samsung pushes hundreds of firmware updates, it may not be able to fundamentally solve this hardware problem, but at least it can reduce or optimize this problem by modifying the code.

Foreign technology media SamMobile recently released a new video comparing the camera shooting capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Google Pixel 7. In the video, the camera performance of the two flagship phones is compared in depth, including the comparison of photos in different scenarios such as daytime and nighttime, as well as the comparison of selfie photos and videos.

The Galaxy S22 offers a dedicated 3x optical zoom camera, so it has an inherent advantage when it comes to telephoto shooting. The Pixel 7, on the other hand, uses a digital zoom, so it can’t compete with the S22 in terms of optical zoom capabilities. As a result, the Galaxy S22 can take photos with a blurrier background in portrait mode compared to the Pixel 7.

While the Pixel 7 camera tends to favor more natural colors and skin tones, the S22’s algorithm may be better in some cases. In most cases, the Galaxy S22 seems to capture more detail and has better focus.

It’s worth noting that these differences between Google’s and Samsung’s approach to mobile photography are also apparent in the leaked Galaxy S23 sample photos. As a result, this trend will continue in 2023.

If there’s one clear advantage the Pixel 7 has over the Galaxy S22, it’s probably in terms of shooting 4K video with the rear camera, mainly because Google’s phone allows for a seamless 4K shooting experience as users switch between wide-angle and ultra-wide angle lenses.

On October 27, Samsung revealed during its third quarter 2022 earnings call that the Galaxy S22 series launched in the first half of the year has maintained solid sales momentum, with significant year-over-year revenue growth.

Samsung said the Galaxy S22 series brought in significantly more revenue than the Galaxy S21 series in the same period last year. That doesn’t mean the Galaxy S22 series sold more, though, and could also be due to the fact that the overall average purchase price has gotten higher and people are buying more high-end versions, including the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S22

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series has switched to Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in more markets, and Samsung has also improved its software update policy this year, offering up to four major Android OS updates for all of its high-end phones and some of its mid-range phones, all factors that may have helped boost revenue for the Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung Electronics reported a third-quarter net profit of 9.14 trillion won (about 46.34 billion yuan), down 24 percent year-over-year, and third-quarter sales of 76.78 trillion won (about 389.275 billion yuan), up 3.8 percent year-over-year.
