According to foreign technology media Sammyfans report, Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, Galaxy S22 Ultra in the installation of last December update, there are too fast power consumption, serious heat, performance degradation and many other problems. And after installing the January patch this year, the situation became even worse.

Samsung’s official support community and the Reddit community, and the discussion suggest that the issues may be caused by the chip’s mass production process. Both the Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip currently used in the series is partially produced by Samsung Foundry.

Users have discussed that Samsung Foundry’s manufacturing process is not up to standard, resulting in the inability to properly dissipate heat from the SoC, and the user experience is subject to these issues. However, the Galaxy S22 sold in some countries such as India has not been affected by this issue, which is mainly found in the Exynos 2200 models.

In order to bring the world’s most powerful GPU, Samsung partnered with AMD and used the Xclipse GPU in the Exynos 2200.

Due to heat issues with the Exynos and production efficiency issues with Foundry, Samsung turned to Qualcomm and decided to drop its own SoCs from the Galaxy S series. this year, the Galaxy S23 series is using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset made by TSMC worldwide.

The media hopes that Samsung can solve the battery power consumption and heating problems of Galaxy S22 devices through firmware updates as soon as possible. Even if Samsung pushes hundreds of firmware updates, it may not be able to fundamentally solve this hardware problem, but at least it can reduce or optimize this problem by modifying the code.

Samsung has released five Beta versions of One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22 and officially announced during its SDC 2022 keynote that it will release a stable version of One UI 5.0 at the end of October. now, Samsung has reportedly released a stable update for some Galaxy S22s.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max outperformed other flagship smartphones, including the Google Pixel 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, in a recent smartphone battery life test.

PhoneArena conducted battery life tests on some of the most popular flagship smartphones on the market today, including Google’s new Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and the older Pixel 6 Pro. In the first part of the test, each phone was put on an emulator that replicated typical web browsing. The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were the winners of this specific test. The endurance results are as follows.

  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max: 19 hours 5 minutes
  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro: 16 hours 18 minutes
  • Google Pixel 7 Pro: 14 hours 19 minutes
  • Google Pixel 7: 13 hours 56 minutes
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 13 hours 17 minutes
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro: 13 hours 13 minutes

The second part of the test involved each phone playing back the same YouTube video until the battery ran out. According to the video, each phone started at 100% brightness level. The endurance results are as follows.

  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max: 11 hours 0 minutes
  • Google Pixel 7 Pro: 9 hours and 39 minutes
  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro: 9 hours 14 minutes
  • Google Pixel 7: 9 hours 13 minutes
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro: 9 hours 10 minutes
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 7 hours 27 minutes

By the numbers, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max last the longest and should have the largest physical capacity batteries, but that’s not the case.

In fact, compared to the Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the iPhone 14 Pro has the smallest battery capacity. The iPhone 14 Pro Max also has a smaller battery compared to other large flagships, despite getting the longest battery life in all tests. Here are the phone battery capacities.

  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max: 4323mAh
  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro: 3200mAh
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: 5000mAh
  • Google Pixel 7 Pro: 5000mAh
  • Google Pixel 7: 4355mAh
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro: 5000mAh
