Samsung has brought astrophotography support to its older flagship devices, the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra. The feature is already available on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23 series, allowing users to take photos of the night sky.

The latest version of the Expert RAW app (2.0.08.5) allows users to enable astrophotography mode, which must be running after the April 2023 update for the Galaxy S21 series phones to support this feature. The feature allows users to save images in both JPEG and RAW formats.

Expert RAW’s astrophotography mode relies on long exposure shots to capture high-quality images of stars, planets and constellations visible in the night sky; it also features built-in tools to help users point to various constellations in the sky, allows users to set timers for up to 10 minutes, and recommends mounting the device on a tripod to capture stable images.

Samsung has previously relaunched Galaxy Enhance-X, an artificial intelligence image editing application for the S23 series of phones; in addition, it has partnered with Microsoft Xbox to launch free dedicated gaming zones in London and New York City, among others.

The beta version of One UI 5.0 based on Android 13 was previously launched in several selected markets, and after a few weeks of testing, Samsung revealed some new news about this new system during SDC22 (Samsung Developer Conference), confirming that the system will soon leave the beta phase and be launched to the general public.

The new One UI 5.0 update will bring a variety of new features and changes, including but not limited to: more lock screen customization, expanded color palette functionality, improved permission notification customization options, a slightly redesigned quick toggle area, better animations, Stacked Widgets, and call background effects for individual contacts.

Samsung has released four One UI 5.0 beta updates for the Galaxy S22 series in some markets, and it’s unclear if the fourth beta will be the last, and the exact date when the update will leave the beta phase is still unknown. But at the SDC conference, Samsung confirmed that the One UI 5.0 update is scheduled to leave beta later this month and officially roll out for the Galaxy S22. It’s almost mid-October now, so there’s no need to wait too long, and it’s speculated that the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 should also receive the One UI 5.0 update this year.

According to SamMobile, some users have reported that the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series won’t be able to receive text messages after the September 2022 update. The issue is so common that even users of the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series have reported the problem.

According to reports, Samsung Galaxy S21 series phones with the problem had to wait for hours to receive text messages, and restarting the phone did not fix the problem. The temporary solution is to turn on Airplane Mode, remove the SIM card and reinsert it.

On September 29, the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series was rolled out with firmware version G991USQS5CVI8 update, and the Verizon changelog reads, “Resolved an intermittent issue where the device was not receiving text messages. In addition to this bug fix, this update also upgrades the security patch to October 2022.”

Samsung has started pushing the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 Beta update for the Galaxy S21 series in the US, bringing enhanced palette features, stacked widgets, separate call backgrounds for each contact, opt-in notifications for each app, language settings for each app, and improved performance.

Samsung is working hard to prepare One UI 5.0 for some of its Galaxy devices, and it has previously launched One UI 5.0 Beta for a number of flagship models, so I believe that users who are willing to take the risk have already tried to get the beta firmware.

On the other hand, users who don’t want to join or didn’t have time to sign up for the beta program haven’t had access to Android 13 yet, so they’ll probably have to wait a little longer to experience the latest changes.

According to Sammobile, Samsung will come up with stable One UI 5.0 firmware this year for at least six major series of Galaxy devices by the end of 2022, including the Galaxy S21 series, S22 series, Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4, which will receive the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 stable version based on Android 13.

In addition to flagship phones, Samsung will also bring One UI 5.0 to users of mid-range models such as the Galaxy A53 by 2023.

According to foreign media, the Galaxy A5x series is one of Samsung’s most successful mid-range products, with 2022 models released in March this year with the promise of four years of Android upgrades. The Samsung Galaxy A53 comes pre-installed with One UI 4.1 based on Android 12, and One UI 5.0 is expected to be its first major version upgrade.

Sammobile also mentioned that this is just the initial update plan, but plans always change. Of course, if more Galaxy phones will support the One UI 5.0 update this year, we’ll bring you more follow-up reports.
