In a video posted in September this year, Mrwhosetheboss, a well-known oil tube channel, complained that the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S10 all had bulging batteries. Samsung seems to be aware of the problem and has investigated it. It’s unclear how many Galaxy users have been affected.

Other content creators with large cell phone collections have also found that Samsung is more prone to bulging batteries than other brands of phones. According to Mrwhosetheboss, Samsung checked some Galaxy phones with bulging batteries – and the batteries didn’t explode; they just expanded, damaging the devices in the process.

In response, Samsung confirmed to foreign technology media The Verge that it was aware of the matter. According to comments made by Samsung spokesman Chris Langlois to The Verge, the South Korean company is looking into “further technical evaluation”. We encourage customers who have questions about Samsung devices to contact their local customer service representatives,” he said.

The battery bulge itself is not dangerous,” said Arthur Shi, senior technical editor at iFixit. You may not be able to use your phone, and you should never try to charge it once you see it swell. But batteries don’t catch fire or explode. Swelling is a safety feature that device manufacturers built into batteries to prevent accidental fires.
