An update to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro wireless headphones that bring enhanced ambient volume to the hearing impaired will be rolled out in the coming weeks, Samsung’s official blog announced today. Samsung says the ambient sound feature will gain two additional levels, which will provide a total of five levels of amplified volume and “provide more users with the benefits of improved hearing.

A clinical trial conducted by the University of Iowa’s Hearing Aid and Aging Research Laboratory demonstrated the efficacy of the new ambient sound feature, concluding that the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro wireless headphones “significantly improved speech perception in people with mild to moderate hearing loss. A similar trial conducted by Samsung Medical Center found that the Galaxy Buds2 Pro “may be an effective tool to help people with mild to moderate hearing loss communicate better in quiet places,” Samsung said, adding that both trials used the new highest level of ambient sound (Note: Officially, Level 5).

With the update, users can use different ambient sound levels for the left and right earbuds, so they can fine-tune the level of amplification needed for their ears and also customize the range of tones from soft to clear in five different stages; by adjusting the ambient sound, they can also automatically adapt to their ears.

Samsung has confirmed that it will soon roll out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. The update will allow these devices to enhance the camera and audio experience of Galaxy phones.

After this update, Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will support 360-degree audio recording, which can add immersive sound to video content captured by Galaxy phones. Also, the camera controller on the Galaxy Watch will get new functionality.

The 360-degree audio recording feature will capture the sound in the video as it is heard in real life. This means it is now possible to record video with high-quality, lifelike audio without the need for expensive professional equipment.

This feature works by picking up 360-degree sound through the microphones in each earbud. Playing videos on devices that support 360-degree audio, such as the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, will provide users with an immersive and lifelike experience.

360-degree audio recording is the first feature in the Galaxy series to use the Bluetooth LE audio standard. Binaural recording is also possible on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro by using the left and right microphones simultaneously. This feature can be enabled for Galaxy Buds 2 Pro users when their headphones are paired with a Galaxy phone running One UI 5.0 or later that supports LE audio. Compatible with Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 devices, in addition to upcoming Samsung phones.

The Galaxy Watch camera controller app allows users to control the device’s camera from the wrist. Samsung is releasing an update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 that brings zoom control to the camera controller app.

Users can remotely control the zoom of the phone camera through the wrist. Pinch the dial or rotate the bezel to zoom in or out. This will make it easier to take group photos or selfies from a distance.

A software update for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro that enables 360-degree audio recording will be rolling out gradually starting today. The camera zoom control feature will be released for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series starting in February.

Samsung released the Galaxy Buds2 Pro true wireless headphones, priced at $ 229.99 (about 1552.43 RMB ). Today, the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro headphones were released in China, priced at 1299 RMB.

The Galaxy Buds2 Pro is available in three colorways: Purple Secret, Gothic Space, and Ice Float.

In terms of decoding, Galaxy Buds2 Pro supports 24-bit high-fidelity audio. The upgraded Samsung codec (SSC) encodes the full 24-bit audio and decodes it with Galaxy Buds2 Pro to achieve 24-bit high-fidelity audio sound.

For noise cancellation, Galaxy Buds2 Pro supports Intelligent Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with three sets of microphones designed with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to track and reduce external sounds, including soft sounds such as wind. It can also be easily switched to in-person conversation mode with the voice detection function.

In terms of battery life, it provides up to 5 hours of continuous listening time with active noise cancellation (ANC) on, and 18 hours with the charging case. Samsung says the Galaxy Buds2 Pro supports Bluetooth V5.3 and will support low-power audio in the future.

Elsewhere, the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro supports 360 audio, a 360 audio algorithm combined with multi-channel (5.1 channel / 7.1 channel / Dolby Atmos) and Dolby Head Tracking technology to synchronize sound and movement to create a sense of immersion. Officially, your Samsung Galaxy device automatically pops up with the Galaxy Buds2 Pro signal when the charging case is opened and can be tapped to connect.

Today, Samsung continued its string of hardware updates with a launch event that introduced the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro as it introduced its headphone offerings. they are smaller and more comfortable to wear than the initial Buds Pro, and the new model supports 24-bit audio playback via Bluetooth, provided you’re using a Samsung phone.

The $229.99 Buds 2 Pro can be pre-ordered from Samsung’s website starting today, and the device will be available on August 26th and will be available in black, white and purple colorways.

The Buds 2 Pro is 15 percent smaller than the original Buds Pro, and Samsung has also expanded the ventilation grille to allow more airflow to the ear canal, reducing any “clogging” sensation during extended use, which will also make the earbuds sound more convincing in clear mode.

Samsung also highlighted the use of a large amount of recycled materials in these premium earbuds, with the official description stating.

By weight, more than 90 percent of all plastic parts in the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are made from recycled materials. 29 grams of plastic were used in total in the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, including more than 27 grams of recycled materials. Each of these parts contains at least 20% waste fishing nets (plastic from the ocean) or post-consumer materials.

Recycled fishing nets were used for three internal components of the chassis housing, namely the bracket trim surface, bracket battery holder, and bracket-PCB. post-consumer recycled materials were used for eight external components. Four components in the two Buds are in the front of their housing left/right and the rear of the housing left/right. And there are four components in the front of the cradle housing, the upper part of the housing, the inner part of the upper part of the housing and the lower part of the housing.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro can still switch automatically between various Samsung devices, but unfortunately they lack multi-point support, so they can’t be paired with two sources at the same time. This handy feature is (eventually) becoming more common on earbuds, and Google recently added multipoint audio source switching to its Pixel Buds Pro. So it’s disappointing to see Samsung ship a new set of flagship earbuds without this feature.

CMC_1731.webp

But on the bright side, the Buds 2 Pro now enables 24-bit hi-fi audio playback, provided it requires a phone running One UI 4.0 or later, and Samsung also notes that support for 24-bit will vary from app to app, with Spotify still not supporting it, for example.

With the help of the Buds 2 Pro’s proprietary “Seamless Codec (SSC HiFi),” Samsung is getting true wireless headphones to start playing wirelessly in high fidelity. Apple is rumored to be exploring its own solution to bring higher quality audio to the next AirPods Pro. Sony already has a solution with the LDAC codec, available on the now available WF-1000XM5 and LinkBuds S.

The 360-degree audio feature will also reportedly be “enhanced” and multi-channel immersion will be improved. According to Samsung’s spec sheet, the Buds 2 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.3 and LE audio.

Buds 2 Pro battery life is 5 hours of playback (with ANC on), or 8 hours when turned off. Including the battery in the case, users get a total battery life of 20 hours (with ANC enabled) or 30 hours (with ANC off). the Buds 2 Pro has a water and sweat resistance rating of IPX7.

All in all, Samsung’s latest flagship earbuds are a modest improvement over the previous model, but still unquestionably the best companion to the company’s Galaxy phone lineup, including the newly announced Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 today.
