Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, which has a higher clock frequency and performance advantage over the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform.

Samsung will reportedly launch the Galaxy S23 FE in the second half of 2023, which will follow the S20 FE as a “fan edition” phone designed to satisfy some of its loyal users. However, the phone will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos chip, rather than a Snapdragon chip.

The source also revealed that Samsung is now planning to return to the Exynos chip in the Galaxy S24 series, which will be released in 2024, which means that Samsung’s partnership with Qualcomm may only be short-lived. However, the sources say that the Galaxy S24 series for the US market may still use Snapdragon chips, while the European market may use Exynos chips.

Samsung has used this regional differentiation strategy before, giving the European market an Exynos version of its phones and other markets like China and the US a Snapdragon version.

According to the screenshots, the Exynos 2400 chip will be mass-produced using Samsung’s 4-nanometer SF4P process, with a 1+2+3+4 deca-core design. The CPU information is attached as follows:

The GPU is Samsung’s Xclipse 940, based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture, with 6 processor working groups (WGP), each with 2 computing units (CU), and 12 CUs, which is equivalent to 768SP, 48TMU and 32ROP.

The screenshot information also shows that the Exynos 2400 chip supports UFS 4.0 storage, 8.5Gbps LPDDR5X memory with a bandwidth of 68.26GB per second, supports up to 320 million pixel image signal processor (ISP), and supports up to 60fps 8K video recording.

Sources say Samsung’s MX division has assembled a dedicated team of more than 1,000 people, including a senior semiconductor expert tapped from Apple.

It is learned from a follow-up tweet that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series flagship will be the first to be equipped with this processor, with the goal of integrating modems, UWB and all other chips.
