According to Samsung, its 77-inch, 65-inch, and 55-inch QD-OLED panels for TVs have now obtained “Pantone Validated” and “Pantone Skin Color Certification”. Validated)”.

According to officials, Samsung Display is the first company in the display industry to obtain Pantone certification. The “Pantone Color Certification” obtained by Samsung Display is based on the Pantone Matching System (PMS) color standard, verifies the ability to accurately represent more than 2,000 specific colors, and is awarded only to products that meet certain standards. The acquisition of “Pantone Skin Tone Certification” also needs to be able to accurately represent the 110 skin tones in the Pantone Skin Tone Guide. This guide is based on scientific measurements of thousands of actual skin tones for every human skin type. It is specially formulated to reproduce the closest physical skin color and is currently the only international general color standard that accurately matches skin color.

Samsung Display’s QD-OLED technology brief introduction:

QD-OLED is different from the existing large-scale OLEDs that use color filters to achieve different colors, but uses the optical properties of quantum dots to produce different colors according to the size of the particles. Due to the high color purity of each pixel, the phenomenon of color mixing with surrounding colors Fewer, so a purer, deeper representation can be achieved, resulting in a more accurate representation of “true” natural colors.

According to foreign media reports, market research executives revealed that Samsung Display, which has increased the yield rate of large QD-OLED panels to 85% over the summer, is considering expanding the production capacity of QD-OLED panels so that it can get the panel orders needed for Apple Display.

Executives at the market research firm said that Samsung Display is considering investing in the production of QD-OLED panels in their new planned factory, which may be called A5.

The executive from the market research firm also said that Samsung Display’s A5 plant, which will use 8.6 generation substrates to produce panels, will primarily target 27-inch displays, with Apple being their planned main customer.

In terms of the panels needed for the displays, the market research firm’s executives revealed that Samsung initially considered developing red, green and blue tandem OLED panels, but then decided to produce more profitable QD-OLED panels for the display market.

In addition to the 8.6 generation substrate QD-OLED panels, foreign media said that Samsung Display and LG Display, also in the development of 8 generations substrate OLED panel production-related technology, with the current widespread use of 6 generation substrate compared to the 8 generation substrate produced by the panel size is larger, the main target is flat panels, notebooks and monitors and other products.

Samsung Display, a panel maker owned by Samsung Electronics, plans to increase the production capacity of QD-OLED (quantum dot organic light-emitting diode) panels by 30 percent by the end of this year. The company plans to achieve this goal by reducing equipment beat time, i.e., reducing the time needed to produce a product without additional equipment spending, sources said.

It is reported that the QD-OLED panel is a display that combines an OLED screen and quantum dot technology. Samsung Display’s Q1 production line, which is mainly responsible for producing QD-OLED panels, is located in Asan City, South Korea.

In early July this year, Samsung Display increased the yield of its QD-OLED panels to 85 percent. In November last year, the company’s QD-OLED panel yield rate was only 50%, which was raised to 75% in mid-April and 80% in early June this year.

In August this year, market research firm Display Supply Chain Consultant (DSCC) predicted that next year, Samsung Display’s QD-OLED manufacturing costs will be 20%-25% lower than this year.
