AMD at the end of September debuted the Ryzen 7000 series processors, shortly after the sale, AMD seems to realize that the debut price might be set high, so in November began a major price reduction, with the flagship model R9 7950X from 5499 yuan down to 3999 yuan.

According to the latest news, AMD also plans to reduce the price of motherboards, AMD partner manufacturers may push a new batch of motherboards, cutting PCIe 5.0 and other “unnecessary” features.

The newsmaker harukaze5719 said that AMD and its partner manufacturers plan to launch a new motherboard to support the core functions and remove PCIe 5.0 and other elements to achieve higher cost performance.

The current PCIe 4.016 interface for graphics cards has not yet become a bottleneck for high-performance graphics cards, Nvidia’s RTX 4090, 4080 and other graphics cards directly do not support PCIe 5.0 connection, so some positioning is not so high motherboard equipped with PCIe 5.016 interface seems a bit wasteful. In addition, cutting out the PCIe 5.0 M.2 interface won’t have much of an impact, and it will take some time for high-end PCIe 5.0 SSDs to become popular.

If the news is accurate, AMD’s partners may start to launch some “minus” AM5 motherboards next year.

Not long ago, AMD officially released the Ryzen 7000 processor, which is scheduled to go on sale on September 27. The price of the 6-core Ryzen 9 7950X starts at $299, and the price of the 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X has been reduced by $100, which greatly increases the price/performance ratio. Because the previous generation of the Ryzen 5000 encountered a capacity crisis not long after its release, resulting in product shortages and price increases, players still have lingering fears. This time, the Ryzen 7000 is equipped with a more advanced 5nm process. Will the shortage problem recur?

AMD’s response is no. CEO Su Zifeng has confirmed in an interview before that this time AMD has greatly increased its production capacity in wafers, substrates and back-end. With the launch of Zen4, it is expected that there will be no supply constraints. The problem.

Why does AMD dare to slap the chest this time to ensure that it will not be out of stock? In fact, it has a great relationship with TSMC, because the times have changed. In the past two years, there was a shortage of chip production capacity. However, in the second half of this year, the market demand was insufficient, and the chip production capacity increased significantly. TSMC is now worried about the 5nm capacity utilization rate.

Sources from the supply chain said that due to the decline in the utilization rate of 5nm chips, TSMC had to consider closing some EUV lithography machines. The company has a total of about 80 EUV lithography machines and plans to close 4 of them by the end of this year. After all, EUV light The engraving machine consumes 30,000 kWh of electricity per day, and the operating cost is very high.

The four accurate SKU models of AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processor have officially surfaced. Found by digging into AMD’s official website repository (which seems to have been hidden before the deadline), these four models are: Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 5 7600X . Unfortunately, there is no sign of the Ryzen 7 7800X and Ryzen 3 7000 for now.

Despite previous news that the Dragon 7 7700X would not be in the debut lineup, AMD’s temporary change of heart cannot be ruled out until all the dust settles.

The 7950X is a 16-core, 32-thread flagship with a thermal design power consumption (TDP) of 170W and an all-core acceleration frequency of up to 5.5GHz. 25% more per watt than Zen3 and 35% more overall performance.

In addition, the 7900X is designed for 12 cores and 24 threads, the 7800X/7700X for 8 cores and 16 threads, and the 7600X for 6 cores and 12 threads. Of course, these four or five is just the tip of the iceberg.

News that this time the sharp dragon 7000 in 45W, 65W, 95W, 105W, 125W and 170W and other rich models, the limit of power can be up to 230W, performance release space is very large.
