Sega announced game accessories brand PowerA to establish a new partnership and launched a series of Sonic the Hedgehog-themed accessories products.

The line of accessories includes licensed grips for the Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Xbox Series X|S, a Switch storage bag, and a card holder for Switch game cards.

Akio Strasser, Senior Global Marketing Director at PowerA, said, “As loyal fans, the PowerA team is excited to work with the Sega team to bring characters like Sonic the Hedgehog to our grips and accessories. With over 30 years of Sonic history and generations of gamers experiencing the series, we are excited to bring these characters to life on our accessories for the first time.”

PowerA’s official website and other retailers listed these accessories, the official website price is as follows:

  • Switch authorized Sonic theme handle: $29.99 (currently about RMB 216)
  • Switch Sonic theme storage bag: $19.99 (currently about RMB 144)
  • Xbox licensed Sonic-themed grips: $39.99 (currently about RMB 288)

PowerA is a game peripheral equipment manufacturer founded in 1984, it began to cooperate with Nintendo in 1992 to provide products, in 1999 to obtain Nintendo’s first authorization and in 2009 to obtain Xbox and PlayStation authorization.

PowerA has announced that on 6 August 2023, it will release an officially licensed Kirby of the Stars-themed Switch grip. The handle is now available for pre-order on Amazon for $44.99 (currently about RMB 322).

The wireless controller is similar to the company’s other products but unique compared to other customizations.

It includes two advanced buttons that can be programmed anytime, a precision-tuned analog joystick, full-size directional buttons, programmable LEDs, support for button mapping, and a low-battery warning.

The joystick is powered by AA batteries and claims to come with a two-year warranty, and while the graphics look attractive, like most other third-party Switch joysticks, there’s no support for HD vibration, an IR camera, motion controls, or amiibo NFC.
