Polestar shared details about its upcoming 2024 Polestar 2. In addition to the exterior, the 2024 Polestar 2 also features upgrades to the battery and electric motor to provide more power and acceleration. In addition, the new Polestar 2 will be the first model from the brand to offer a rear-wheel drive configuration, providing a higher range.

Polestar is a relatively young electric car manufacturer that has achieved a delivery target of more than 50,000 electric vehicles in 2022.

Polestar 2, which debuted three years ago, is currently sold in 27 different markets and surpassed 100,000 total sales by the end of 2022.

The 2024 Polestar 2 features a new closed front design, called “SmartZone”, which represents the new design language for the future of the electric car brand. The SmartZone consists of several forward-facing sensors, a forward-facing radar, a heating wire, an accelerometer and ultrasonic sensors, which combine to operate as a “smart eye”.

The 2024 Polestar 2 also features a new battery and a new powertrain, and all three of the latest Polestar 2 models will have upgraded performance. The new single-motor version is now rear-wheel drive, compared to the previous front-wheel drive, a move designed to increase efficiency and improve range. The two-motor all-wheel-drive version also favors rear-wheel drive, with the aim of increasing driving pleasure and performance.

The updated two-motor version of the Polestar 2 is 14bhp more powerful to 416bhp and 59 lb-ft more torquey to 546 lb-ft thanks to a new rear motor, reducing the 0-62mph acceleration time to 4.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the previous version. The rear-wheel drive version is also now faster, with a 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds (previously 7.0 seconds).

The 2024 Polestar 2 single-motor rear-wheel drive model now has a maximum EPA range of 300 miles (approximately 482.8 kilometers), up from 270 miles (approximately 434.52 kilometers) in the previous front-wheel drive version. This improvement is largely due to the inclusion of a larger battery pack, which has increased from 78 kWh to 82 kWh, and a larger battery pack that is also capable of charging at a faster rate of 205 kW (compared to 155 kW previously).

The 2024 Polestar 2 is already available for pre-order in overseas markets, with deliveries to customers expected to begin later this year.

On September 5th that the new Polestar 2 will arrive next year, with minor adjustments in the exterior design, improved efficiency and performance of the new car, and a series of software updates.

Some people have photographed the prototype of the new Polestar 2 being tested in the Alps, and the new car will retain the single-motor and dual-motor versions. The current Polestar 2 offers 402bhp and 487lb-ft of torque, and the single-motor version has a range of up to 341 miles.

The pictures show that the front grille and rim design of the vehicle being tested are masked out, suggesting that there will be changes to these two places on the new car, as well as the new car’s front bumper.

Interior pictures of the new Polestar 2 show that it is largely the same as the current design, with the same 11-inch vertical infotainment screen and plush fabric material on the dashboard.

The facelifted model won’t arrive until 2023, Polestar has also recently updated the current Polestar 2, introducing Apple CarPlay, cruise control improvements, and improved efficiency and battery life.

Polestar also recently revealed its Model 3, which will go on sale in 2023. Meanwhile, the Polestar 6 has made its public debut at Pebble Beach, selling out its 500-plus orders in less than a week, and the car won’t arrive until 2026.
