It is understood that the M3P battery is based on a new material system developed by CATL Time battery, industry sources said that the M3P battery’s energy density of lithium iron phosphate increased by about 15%, up to 210Wh/kg, the cost is comparable to lithium iron phosphate, lower than ternary lithium batteries.

To be precise, CATL Time M3P is not lithium manganese iron phosphate, but also contains other metal elements, called the phosphate system of ternary, which can solve the problem of the short cycle life of lithium manganese iron phosphate batteries, internal resistance.

Musk is very optimistic about the application of the manganese technology program in the battery, in March this year, he publicly said that Tesla has been trying to use manganese in the battery.

The industry is also optimistic about lithium manganese iron phosphate batteries, which will gradually replace the general lithium iron phosphate batteries and become the mainstream installation program.

At present, the power battery of electric vehicles on the market is mainly ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate two, but in recent years, lithium iron phosphate has become the meat and potatoes, data show that in the first half of this year, lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries installed 58.5% and 41.4% respectively.
