In terms of system version changes, Samsung is undoubtedly the leader in the Android lineup. Samsung announced in 2019 that it was the first manufacturer to promise to provide 3 generations of Android version updates for mid-range and flagship models; Samsung then extended the support plan to 4 generations, which created a precedent in the Android camp.

Under the leadership of Samsung, OnePlus also recently announced that it will provide 4 generations of Android version updates for phones, and provide an additional year of security updates. While extending the device support cycle, Samsung is also accelerating product version changes.

As of December, more than 40 Galaxy phones have deployed Android 13 / OneUI 5 updates, and the number of such product updates has far exceeded that of other Android phone manufacturers.

Samsung’s past Android version changes are usually concentrated in high-end models. Samsung will focus on the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z series until 2022. These high-end devices will be released in the same year as the major Android version update, while mid- and low-end models will be launched next year.

However, Samsung has changed its update strategy in 2022. It can be frequently seen that Samsung devices are upgraded to Android 13 / OneUI 5.0. And new devices are being upgraded to Android 13 almost every day. In addition to the Galaxy S series flagships, models like the Galaxy A22 5G and Galaxy M33 5G have also received upgrades.

After weeks of testing, Samsung has just bumped up the version number of One UI 5.0 from Beta 1 to Beta 2. While only the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones are available for the time being, a new rumor has hinted that One UI 5.0 is expected to officially arrive this October. This release window was exclusively revealed by SamMobile a few months ago and was recently backed up by Korean tipster @RoderSuper.

@RoderSuper, who claims to be a former Samsung employee, claims that the One UI 5.0 update, based on the Android 13 mobile OS customization, will be released to the public on October 17-19 and will be available for the Galaxy S22 / S22+ / S22 Ultra models.

If this is true, it means that the long-awaited software update will arrive in the third week of October — when the One UI 5.0 beta testing program will come to an end.

Last but not least, Samsung fans are obviously hoping that the South Korean electronics giant will push the Android 13 update to more Galaxy product lines as soon as possible.

With the Pixel about to be upgraded to Android 13 and Samsung about to launch its OneUI 5.0 Beta program based on Android 13, OnePlus has now officially announced the launch of its beta program for OxygenOS 13 based on Android 13. The main highlights of OxygenOS 13 include improved Zen Mode, enhanced Nearby Share and Fast Pair features.

OxygenOS 13 details

Other features that OxygenOS 13 will bring include, but are not limited to.

"● AI system booster

● Smart Launcher - faster folders, ability to open apps from folder icons, add widgets from app icons

● Sidebar Toolbox - sidebar for quick access to selected apps

● Hyperboost game engine upgrade

● Spatial audio support

● Private Security 2.0"

But the biggest change is the design of OxygenOS 13. At the launch of the OnePlus 10T, the company spent about 30 minutes talking about OxygenOS 13 and focused a lot on the new design of the update. The main thing that caught our attention was the new “aquamorphic” design language, which the company says is meant to evoke the concept of water. There are also new blue and orange accents that you can find throughout the user interface.
