The official changelog shows that this major update brings AV1 encoding support for the AMD RX 7000 and Intel Razzle Solo.

In addition, the changelog says that OBS Studio 29 also supports Intel HEVC encoding for the Windows platform, which is known as H.265 encoding, as well as support for native HEVC and ProRes encoders on macOS.

The codec was developed in collaboration with the Open Media Alliance and encodes 4K UHD video with an average compression rate 30% higher than similar encoders.
