For those who bought high-end cards in the past, how are they doing now that the prices of the RTX 30 series high-end graphics cards continue to dip. videoCardz reports that as the cryptocurrency mining boom subsides and the RTX 40 series approaches, the RTX 30 series high-end selling prices are bottoming out.

The RTX 3090 Ti, for example, was once quoted at over $3,000 (20,000+ RMB) during the mining boom, but the latest offer from overseas in September has dropped to $1,099 (about 7,620 RMB), with a large number of stock options available, and the price has been cut after comparing the two.

Meanwhile, the RTX 3080 Ti, which is comparable to the RTX 3090 in terms of gaming performance, has slipped to $739 (about 5124 RMB) in retail price.

Not to mention the non-Ti version of the RTX 3090 graphics card, whose price has long fallen below four figures, reaching $959 (about 6,650 RMB).

Obviously, such a substantial price increase is mainly affected by two factors, in addition to the competition from AMD Radeon RX 6000 series, the crazy dumping of used mining cards, but also caused a huge impact on the market.

NVIDIA’s Q2 FY23 earnings report released a few days ago acknowledged the previously teased overall decline in the gaming business, with revenue down 33%, quarterly earnings plummeting 72%, and tens of billions of dollars in inventory and the situation will worsen in Q3. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said they will work with retailers to adjust prices to meet market challenges. In other words, RTX 30 series graphics cards will continue to drop in price.

Graphics card prices have plummeted over the past few months, with prices for RTX 30 and RX 6000 series cards in the U.S. market dropping significantly over the months from April to July, with A cards down an average of 29% and N cards down an average of 26%.

The situation converged in July, as graphics card prices fell, and the latest data shows that graphics card prices are still falling in August, but not as dramatically as before, with AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards falling by an average of about 6%.

After all, the current AMD and NVIDIA graphics card prices have been lower than the recommended price, manufacturers are anxious to clear inventory, but not willing to sell at a loss, the current price of the price reduction space is not much.

However, there is another important test in September, that is, the Ethernet upgrade 2.0, officially abandoning the PoW mechanism (proof of workload mechanism), to PoS (proof of interest mechanism), this shift will completely end graphics card mining, the merger time on September 10 to 20.

If the merger goes well, then more mining cards will be eliminated in September, and these mining cards will be transformed into the second-hand graphics card market, further lowering the price of graphics cards, whether the price of graphics cards will collapse again depends on the big test this time.

Don’t be anxious to buy a card, wait for the September graphics card price changes, and September’s GTC conference, NVIDIA is also basically sure to release RTX 40 series graphics cards, high play can consider the new card.
