Nikon today released firmware update 2.40 for the APS-C mirrorless camera Z 50, bringing eye detection autofocus support for video recording.

The updates are as follows.

Eye Detection AF is now available during video recording.

Improved eye detection performance for [Auto Area AF].

Improved refresh rate of focus points displayed in Live View during object tracking and face/eye detection AF.

The Z 50 is Nikon’s first Z-mount DX-format digital SLR camera, and with approximately 20.88 effective megapixels, the Z 50 is a Nikon DX-format digital SLR camera with a CMOS sensor combined with focal plane phase detection autofocus pixels.

The Nikon Z 50 features an approx. 8cm (approx. 3.2″), 1.04-million-dot flippable TFT touchscreen LCD that supports the familiar touchscreen operation of smartphone users. A few days ago reported the official release of the new head of Voigtländer, two of them for the Nikon Z-mount, with a retro look design, looks very much a sense of age.

Super-Weide Heliar 15mm f / 4.5 aspherical lens (Nikon Z-mount): 129,800 yen (currently about RMB 6802 )

NOKTON 50mm f/1 aspherical lens (Nikon Z-mount): 264,000 yen (currently about RMB 13834)

ULTRON 75mm f/1.9 SC VM / f1.9 MC VM dual version (Leica M-mount): yen 110,000 (currently about RMB 5764).

Both new 75mm lenses consist of seven elements in five groups, three of which use unusually partially dispersive glass. The lens is very compact, measuring just 54.1mm in length, but that means it’s also very portable.

In addition, it features an all-metal helical unit, machined and tuned with high-precision, high-quality grease for just the right amount of torque.

The Nokton 50mm f / 1 aspherical lens is the brightest f / 1 lens in Frontenac’s full-frame interchangeable lens lineup. It uses GA (ground aspherical) lenses for a more compact style, is based on a 9-group, 11-blade construction, and also supports collaboration with in-camera functions (MF assist, Exif information, in-body image stabilization) via electronic contacts.

Finally, this 15mm f / 4.5 lens has a 110° angle of view, almost no distortion, a minimum focusing distance of 12.6cm, is still compatible with square filters, has a 58mm thread, can be mounted without special adapters and weighs 290 grams, all details of which will be announced when it is available in February.
