Tesla’s new software update 2022.20 seems to care for cars beyond its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta car line-up, with the upgrade being extended to all cars with Autopilot.

The update is already revealed to let us know of some of the cool features that Tesla cars would carry. One such feature is scanning for potholes, other is self-adjusting the ride height when riding on difficult terrain with the use of adaptive suspension. Finally, the feature that was earlier exclusively available with FSD Beta cars but which now most Tesla cars would feature, promises to bring down road rage at traffic lights. It is a chime that signals you that the traffic light has turned green. The feature works when you activate the “Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control”

While the feature can be used only with cars that come installed with hardware 3.0 computer- also known as the self-driving computer- drivers won’t be required to buy the heavily priced self-driving package to enable this feature on their cars. The chime can simply be enabled by tapping Controls> Autopilot> Green Traffic Light Chime. Additionally, the feature works not only with the change of the traffic colour, but also when a car in front of you starts moving. For this one needs to turn on the Traffic-Aware Cruise Control or Autosteer option.

While upcoming cars are coming with some really cool updates that enhance their function when in traffic, the next step would be to have a green light countdown. Audi already has this feature on some of its latest models, including the e-tron. While this feature works only in cities where the traffic light system supports this integration, such cities are too growing in number by the day.
