Recently, Volkswagen Group officially announced that it will launch a new 1.5 TSI Evo2 (four-cylinder) engine. The new engine will have higher efficiency and lower emissions, and will be the first to be equipped in the VW T-ROC (domestic T-ROC Tango) and T-ROC Convertible models, and will gradually be adapted in the VW T-Cross (domestic Tango) to Passat (domestic Maiten).

In addition, this engine can also form a plug-in hybrid system with an electric motor, the system can output a maximum of 272 horsepower.

It is understood that this new engine will be a three-way catalytic converter and particle trap moved closer to the engine single emission control module, so not only can improve the efficiency of emission control, but also reduce the use of precious metals, reducing production costs.

And this new engine will also have closed-cylinder technology, in the case of less load, the No. 2 and No. 3 cylinders will stop working to save fuel, the official said the cylinder opening and closing process will be very gentle, basically will not let people feel.

The new optimized engine, with a maximum power of 110 kW (150 hp), achieved fuel consumption of 6.2-6.8 l/100 km in the city and 4.4 l/100 km in the suburbs during the T-RCO test, with a combined fuel consumption between 5.0-5.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 115-120 g/km.

In the future, this engine can also be combined with an electric motor to form a plug-in hybrid system with a combined maximum power of 200 kW (272 hp).

But it should be noted that this engine is currently only used overseas, the domestic public wants to use it, but I’m afraid will have to wait for a lot of time.
