Users can playback and replay up to 5 clips from a 3-hour video history for free. However, if users need access to more footage recording, they will need to purchase a Nest Aware Plus subscription.

Google claims that Nest Doorbell has improved its image quality for recording events in a variety of lighting and weather conditions. Nest Doorbell prevents the fisheye distortion normally seen in security camera footage and records in high dynamic range (HDR) to capture the most detailed information. In addition, the company says the product has a smaller carbon footprint and is made from 43% recycled materials.

Available in four colors: linen, snow, ivy and off-white (pictured above), the Nest Doorbell starts at $179.99 in the US and $239.99 in Canada, although only snow and off-white are available in Canada.

A reverse compilation of yesterday’s new Google Home 2.58 update on Google Play reveals that it includes several images of a new wired version of the Nest Doorbell, codenamed “venus”. （From the looks of it, it has the same pill-shaped design as the current Nest Doorbell (battery).

It is defined by two circles, the camera at the top, the button/bell at the bottom and the engraved “G” logo in the middle. In the Easter egg, you can again find the “Hello” in different languages on the side of the camera.

This new wired version is shorter than the battery model but thicker. Also, we can see images of the black base plate and wedge in case you need a different mounting angle. (The side view above is just the Nest Doorbell, while the side view below has the base plate attached.)
