The Magic Leap 2 headset will go on sale on September 30, starting at $3,299 (about 22,202 yuan). This mixed reality device is the successor to Magic Leap in 2018, smaller, lighter and with a wider field of view, but at a higher price.

Magic Leap has reportedly made the Magic Leap 2 available to a limited number of partners, including neurotechnology company SyncThink and other medical companies. The headset will go on sale in several markets this September, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and will also be available in Japan and Singapore by the end of 2022.

The headset comes in three packages, a $3,299 “Basic” package that includes the headset and limited warranty, a $4,099 “Developer Pro” package that adds development software tools and access to early software versions, and a $4,999 “Enterprise” package that includes the headset and limited warranty. The “Enterprise” package includes quarterly software updates and tools to manage deployment of the headsets throughout the organization.

The Magic Leap 2 headset is essentially the same shape as its predecessor, with a split design, but slimmed down to 260 grams from 316 grams. The monocular resolution is 1440 x 1760, with a refresh rate of 120Hz and an expanded field of view of 70 degrees.

In terms of performance, the CPU and GPU are two to three times more powerful than the previous generation, with more storage capacity and battery life, officially 3.5 hours of continuous use. In addition, Magic Leap 2 will feature more than 18 cameras and sensors: one ambient light sensor, two altimeters, two magnetometers, and four IMUs (including two integrated into the headset, one integrated into the grip, and one integrated into the compute unit).

It is worth mentioning that Magic Leap emphasizes that the headset is built for businesses, not consumers.
